Getting targeted for being 'big'
got my ass beat the other night in an unavoidable situation.
my question is how much of an advantage does fighting give in these circumstances?
i'm considering doing lifting 3 x instead of 5 x a week and take up Muay Thai on the other days.
Anyone have experience with Muay Thai or fighting general? I imagine it would take a few years to get anything actually useful out of training in muay thai before i could use it, correct?

Naw. A few weeks-months with a good muay thai or boxing club will teach you more than enough to slip, duck and box your way to victory. Especially if you tell the instructor you want to focus on sparring. Most people don't have a clue how to fight other than just swinging their arms around. For example:

That said, I'd rather just have a gun. Even if I can win a fight I'd rather not gamble that with bodily harm as the stakes. There's no point in beating up a mugger if you can just shoot him.
