Big weight, low reps = fat
Low weight, high reps = skinny
It's basic physics. You move 10 kg for 100 reps at a faster speed = hugely more calories burned (work done) than lifting 100 kg fro 10 reps at slower speed.
Again, basic physics proves that "high reps for toning xD" is correct.

Ya I've been doing heavy as I can fit 5-6 reps a set

'loft heavy wat big get big'

Enjoy no gains.

You've been lifting for strength instead of size. Muscle definition is just muscles getting bigger and losing fat. If you want definition, then do more reps. The range you want is somewhere between 8 and 12 reps.
You could have found this out by googling "how many reps to get big".
