how did lifters back in the day commonly overhead press 200 pounds for reps and above? were they just higher test?

OHP is no longer an Oly lift because guys would bend backwards so far that they were effectively benching it.

I get there problems judging it but I think removing it ultimately damaged the sport of Oly lifting in the long run. It disconnected it too much from what people could connect with emotionally from their own gym experiences and as a spectator sport.

that makes no sense.

i've never clean and jerked a thing in my life.
i can still appreciate how fucking monstrous and impressive the olympians are.

I understood what he was saying. Most gym goes do not do power cleans and snatches. Everyone who goes to the gym has done a OHP before and can relate. But oly lifitng isnt mush of a spectator sport anyway.
Lifting in todays world is not the same as a few decades ago.
Back then lifting was something that was done by athletes. Nowadays its a casual persons hobby. This is why training concepts have changed so much and why we honestly have better research in fitness.
So yes, they were more high test.
