240 lbs 6 feet here. I've been running SS for a few months with some decent strength gains, but as I annually do, I'm looking at a solid 2-3 months of depression, starting last week. It makes me weak and even though I promised my /fit/ friends from home they'd watch me get up to 3 pl8 deadlifts by Christmas, it's unclear in this state.
I'm trying to look at it positively, as compared to past episodes of depression I still feel determined to improve my health in some way. This seems like the perfect time for a high protein cutting diet, as my appetite is being throttled as well.
My question: They say that people generally look like shit after losing a lot of fat but not lifting, as there is no muscle left on them and they are just DYL aesthetic. But will the muscle gains I got over the past few months help prevent this, and then when I come out of this depression with a more respectable BF%, I can focus more on the lifts?

250 at 6 foot, cut slowly, get stronger while you do it. it is time to cut.
