is it ok to go to a public rec center to work out?

Reason I ask is cause recently I dropped my gym membership which was over charging me. Instead of joining another now I'm planning to wait for those new year special deals. I just recently went to one and had kinda of problem...so after my workout I went to shower and I guess they had a class for kids in the pool at that time. They were changing and I walked out of the shower it felt really awkward cause I never really were nude infront of kids. For a while I thought I was going to get in trouble cause their instructor was kinda eyeing me. Should I just stop going?
