Shit diet plan aside is the starting strength workout plan good for building muscle?

Reg parks beginners and greyskull are better in everyway
It's mostly for strength. I used it so I could learn how to squat, deadlift, bench, and OHP.
I just do a PPL routine
>>39519718
anything is better what you are doing now
>>39519718
Strength.
For muscle try PPL instead and do one of the big 3 each day for 3x5 and try to make linear progression til you can't.
jesus christ, people on /fit/ are retarded. SS is not just "for strength", it's designed to pack on muscle and strength as quickly as possible. it will make you significantly bigger provided you eat enough food, and definitely way bigger than these "aesthetics" routines.

SS will make you big IF you actually do the program (read: add accessories at due time). People here simply don't read the book and don't know you're supposed to add stuff
It's kind of shit. You'll be in a gym focussing on lifting more than last time which is great, but squating every day and doing everything else less than two times a week is only going to ever lead to t rex mode, not a mode anyone aspires to when they start out.

what? he's right. it's not optimized for maximum upper body hypertrophy, if that's where your gripe is. it will provide a lot of upper body mass however. lower body mass is just a given, it can't not happen.
with adequate diet there is no reason someone should finish SS looking shit.

you can just do both ohp and bench on the same day you know if you think it lacks upper volume
>>39520152
b-but what about my symmetric strength stats...
>>39520216
on bench days i do volume ohp and on ohp days volume bench. volume meaning 5 sets of 10-12 reps, usually at .6 - .7 of my previous 5RM.
works wonders for my progress in both lifts and never had any issues with recovery.

i don't do bench anyway.
texas method with overhead press emphasis master race.

It's a good program for strength gain, but you won't have the best aesthetic (you can always work on aesthetic after getting all your novice gains). Anyway, it's a six month program if you follow it correctly. To follow it correctly, read both of Rippetoe's books: Starting Strength and Practical Programming.
