Hey, /fit/. Just wondering...

No matter what /fit/ seems to say about how carbohydrates are inferior to fat, it seems like outside of ketofags a high-carb (high protein, high water and high fiber) low-fat diet is preferred to cut.

I mean, a lot of people say DONT EAT FRUIT EVER or whatever, but they also follow up with PEANUT BUTTER? ON A CUT? LOL FATTY

So, what's up? Is it alright to cut fats to conserve calories on a cut? Obviously, the goal is to cut caloric intake, but what is the most efficient and satiating way (for an already lean/not overweight person)?

It seems like in peer-reviewed journals a high carb diet is more satiating for normal-weight people and a high-fat diet is more satiating for obese people.

carbs are quite important

Keto seems really to be a meme

>someone remarks how the lack of carbs causes test to drop
and provides sources
>someone else rebukes him by telling him that the research did not take into account a high fat eating diet
>also discusses another negative issue, that of insulin insensitivity that you could get by eating foods high on the hypoglycemic index vs insulin load index, he gave meager proof that its not the case

and then today this research came out

http://ergo-log.com/no-carbs-after-your-workouts-less-muscle-recovery-and-growth.html

so rock, paper, scizzors, industrial welder, and I am anti keto again and dont have to buy a HDL/total cholesterol home meter to find out if any of it is true.

Seriously, the needle of the scale to keto, anti keto is almost in the middle, one piece of evidence and it tips the balance again for me at least.

OP here. I don't necessarily want to make this thread on keto, but my impression of keto is that it is an efficient way for obese individuals to get a hold of their appetite and not particularly useful for normal people when a more balanced intake gives better performance.

thats exactly the correct assessment, its a special kind of mode that does work, for specific goals.

its just that its not a long term thing if you want to remain healthy and keep a normal amount of natural test.

to add to that, thats exactly what I did to come out of my high BMI, into the below 10% bodyfat range

also, add some green tea, it will make it 10% more efficient for fat loss.

>a lot of people say DONT EAT FRUIT EVER
Anyone who says not to eat fruit is a paranoid dumbass.

pretty much, but not all fruits are equal in their goodness. Blueberries are nr1 more or less though.

>there is a special acid that decreases the sugar intake in certain fruits

and to those complaining about a paywall, use this

its not about blueberries though, I kinda lost that research, but I loosely remember that the acid in the blueberries is so potent to hinder fast carb absorption, that if you eat simple carbs alongside blueberries, like white bread, the sugar spike is also lowered significantly.

Fats are very, very important to testosterone production.
Carbs are important because insulin promotes anabolic deposition of proteins in skeletal muscle.
Protein is important because it is difficult to synthesize proteins from less bioavailable forms eg, vegetables, and you need certain levels of nitrogen from the amino acids to promote muscle growth.

Keto is good because it increases insulin sensitivity and the respiratory quotient is higher when metabolising fats. Basically, your metabolism is 'higher'. Btw keto does not lower testosterone levels. There are studies for and against, nothing is for certain because the 3 macro groups have so damn many feedback responses.

A macronutrient isocaloric diet is good because you have some anabolic potential from insulin release.

A low carb, low fat diet has been shown to be crap for gains though.

Now, the trufax that nobody wants to hear.
You won't be anabolic on an energy deficit, at least, not in the same way you would be if you ate at maintenance or a bulk.
