my idea is this:
week 1:
monday: clean pulls 4x5 (I like this exercise used to do it when I did weightlifting)

weds: 3x15 hyperextensions

week 2:
monday: clean pull 4x5
weds: 3x15 hyperextensions
friday: deadlift 1x3 RM (increase by 10 each 2 weeks)

thats what I was thinking initially, however because of excuses (I'm tall + long torso), deadlifts always feel taxing as fuck, I'd rather do them once every 2 weeks. Also I've done RDL/SLDL many times, just don't like them that much, they seem to put pressure on my lower back (again long torso) even if my back is straight, also they just look fucking off because of my proportions. why not? I'm already squatting a lot with texas method, I was under the impression that squats help your deadlift. I've heard people who don't deadlift for some time and come back and hit a pr just because they got stronger doing squats and other pulls.


Also does anyone use weightlifting shoes for deadlifts? Ever since I stopped weightlifting and started powerlifting, I've been deadlifting barefoot because thats what people do, however I remember deadlifts feeling a lot more comfortable with weightlifting shoes, maybe its because I have such a long torso so it raises my hips slightly for a stronger start position?

Pick one. I played rugby in college. There is no progress in season. The best you can do is lift twice a week to do everything you can to maintain the strength and hope to not get injured in matches.

Maybe a whole bunch of roids would make a difference, but otherwise the offseason is the only time you'll be able to drive lifts up.

Guys about to buy some stuff since it's Black Friday but just wondered if anyone could help me decide between things if you have experience with it.

So I need bumpers because of the floor even though still PL.

Would you pay £350 for a set of cheap rubber bumpers or £550 for competition training plates? It's only 140kg and I'll need to buy a couple plates after.


Second, is it stupid to buy something overbuilt like 3x3 steel rack, 1" bolts etc as opposed to 2x3 steel 5/8" bolts if you don't even squat 5pl8? I don't really know since I've never used good rack and are you just paying for name with rogue?

For me the weights would be the least important, 20 kg is 20 kg. Buying a quality rack and bar is more important imo.

I had pain at first which subsided and after that I was even able to bench and OHP for a while until it got worse (thought not as much as I did before the injury).

Also, the X-ray I had taken today proved that it's dislocated. Both the doctor and I myself were amazed at how I could have gone this long with a dislocated shoulder and how the darn thing doesn't hurt as much as it's "supposed" to.

Do pullups, rows and lat pulldowns for many of the back building benefits of a deadlift wilhile removing the leg's involvement. unexpected feels at thanksgiving last night lads.
Was at a family friend's house as per tradition. When the sons showed up after picking their grandma up from the home she didn't know where she was, who anyone was around her, and could barely speak.
She was more my grandma than anyone I was related to growing up, since I grew up on the west coast and my extended family was on the east coast.
I actually had to leave the room because of the shock. I didn't know her condition had degraded this much and I couldn't stop myself from crying and I didn't want her to get anxious seeing me.
My japanese grandma who made me lunches during elementary school summers never got to see me as a man.

Quick question for you.

When using intermediate programming some programs (eg TM/HLM) have a volume day or a heavy day.

I was wondering if it made any difference if one put all the heavy lifting on one day or if you could also split the volume over the week.

I hope this example clarifies my question:
setup 1 (all volume/heavy lifting on monday)
monday: 5x5 sq, 5x5 bench & 3x5 DL
wednesday: 3x5 80% sq, 3x5 ohp & goodmorning
friday: 1x5 PR sq, 1x5 PR bench & 1x5 PR DL

setup 2 (volume split over week)
monday: 5x5 sq, 1x5 PR bench, goodmornings
wednesday: 3x5 80% sq, 5x5 bench, 1x5 PR DL
friday: 1x5 PR sq, 3x5 ohp, 3x5 DL

Does it matter how one organizes the volume? If so, what are the consequences?

Interesting question. Traditionally TMesque have you do the volume in one go so that you are recovered and supercompensated by the time intensity day comes around to set a new PR. Have a look at the graph, each "segment" would be 1 week on TM, with intensity day on the peak of each segment.

I think each lift has a similar profile. You might get away with shuffling the pressing/upper body around because the absolute load is lower, but the overlap between the squat and the deadlift might hinder one another as you won't be at that peak each time you go to PR.

This is largely minutiae honestly. If you're at the level where this style of programming is appropriate, then it probably matters more to just show up and put in some hard work each session, whichever structure you choose.

i've got my head in order now and am eating like a cunt so i'm 160lbs for only the second time in my life. lifts should be close previous by now. i'm going to keep the PPL until i stall out on weighted chins. i don't plan on competing in PL in the future. i am more biased towards general strength and gymnastics ring work.

so my question is this: anybody done the westside conjugate style with more workout days? i'll try it out but not quite sure how to program if i have emphasis on gymnastic work (heavy upper pulling) as well.
