Is squating 290 for 3x5 a decent lift for some one who's been squatting consistently for 6 months? I'm 6ft 196lbs.

I don't know.
it depends
"Decent" is subjective. If you want to compare yourself to other people, try strengthstandards.co
Personally, I would've been thrilled to squat 290x1 for reps after 6 months but I was very weak when I began lifting.
Yep. Good job OP. When I was telling faggots here that they should be squatting 315 in 6 months I got hundreds of hate replies telling me it was unrealistic.
So because of that, you're confirmed making great progress as consensus of this board

How deep are you going? ATG then it's very good. Parallel, not bad. 1/2 or 1/4 squats? GTFO.

Yeah it's good. How much do you weigh? What dI'd you start at? I'm 6'1", 345lbs. I started lifting 12 weeks ago. Started @ 95lbs, I'm at 285lbs now. I didn't get all 3 sets, probably gonna have to delay soon.

Cool. I haven't tried 3plts yet. Don't really care to do a 1RM so I guess I'll get to 3plts when I get there for reps
>>39497430
Bout half of them ATG and only parallel on the 4th/5th rep each set
>>39497431
I weigh 196lbs. When I started I did a 1RM at 245. I was able to get that heavy cause I would leg press a bunch.
>>39497431
Damn that's a quick improvement, but you do weigh a lot so that's believable. You'll be repping 4plts in no time.
>>39497365
yeah that is 100lbs plus bw
Resonable
