Are there any recommended workouts for police/army?

I'm going into policing and I've got 2 years to prep, whats the best way to proceed? I've been on SS for 2 months but I feel its time to start prepping for what I'll need.

Functional strength, endurance and body weight. Any recommended routines

Anyone else doing police/army?
>>
>>39480938
You mean MP? Stand at a gate for 8 hours asking people for their IDs
>>
Just stay on SS, add calisthenics and cardio and maybe self defence classes, and you're golden
>>
>>39480948
Don't forget driving around on weekends to collect wasted joes and deliver them back to their command.
>>
>>39480948

No, I'm doing policing. I want to work Major Crimes for the RCMP

bump

someone has to have a training routine
>>
>>39481041
Run 5k every day and eat clean in addition to SS

You'll be better than most applicants I assure you
>>
>>39481072

This and body weight work-outs like push-ups, pull-ups, rope climbing and sprints. Come on, OP, you can do it! Do what you want to do!
>>
>>39480938
Run, pack march, HIT. You dont need weights in the Army.
>>
>>39481109
>>39481072
Are there any lower body body weight workout?
>>
>>39481158
pistol squats are the best
>>
just practice your middle distance running. do lifting, you won't need it but just do it because everyone should. do couch to 5k. as long as you reach fitness standards they'll train you in what you need.
>>
>>39481188

I already did couch to 5k, 5k is easy for me
I dont want to be in line with the rest of the applicant ,I want to be physically exceptional.
Like I said, I've got 2 years. I'm doing a university course on policing. Policing isnt as easy as most believe it is
>>
>>39481206
then get your mile run sub 5 minutes I guess.
>>
>>39481206
Good on you for wanting to be a head above the rest, but its my understanding that many departments treat the physical exam as more of a pass/fail type of deal. passing the physical allows you to go on to further evaluation.
>>
>>39481206
considering we hire women, physical strength isn't huge at most academies.
But that said, bring glory to the team and look good. Nobody likes someone that's a liability on the team or makes the team look bad.
That said some people are a liability because other things; lack of communication skills, lack of knowledge, bad attitude.
Coppers can forgive almost anything except a bad attitude in a trainee.

>>39481259

>we

Are you a police officer?
>>
>>39481274
correcto
>>
>>39481280

How is it as a career? I'm just getting into university (Police Studies) and I'm hoping to make a career in Major Crimes
>>
>>39481293
well I do state police in a civilised western country. We get pretty good respect here and it's a safe place to work (thorough gun regulations) these new body cameras you can't delete footage off and Defense have access to are coming which might change things a bit taking a bit more fun out of the job.
DESU, best job in the world if you're passionate about it, but you are constantly dealing with troubled.. people. Whether that's mental illness, alcohol or being a recidavist offender. Where I work isn't really 'dangerous', but I probably have some PTSD as a result of various death investigations. Also shift work destroys your life. Some people handle that better than others.
TL;dr Have a good attitude and act like everything is recorded always.
What is major crimes? plain clothes protracted investigations?
>>
>>39481312

Hello fellow Ausfag cop.

Country policing is best policing.
>>
>>39481312

Major Crimes with the RCMP is a sect of the Canadian Federal Police
Major Crimes works closely with the Forensics team and the ERT to apprehend criminals that commit crimes that are above municipal police, such as murder, rape, etc

I want to be an officer, but I have zero interest in being a grunt doing traffic control

>tfw finished my bachelors in sociology and working for criminal police in germany
>didnt realize id spend 95% of my day in front of a pc and work schedule is so tight i dont have time to workout anymore
>caught my first murderer 3 days ago which was nice
>>
>>39481338
oh ok, federal police is pretty well funded here. Not really my thing though. I love the adrenaline of first response to chaotic scenes and sorting that anarchy out. Nightwork is pretty fun too.
I very rarely do traffic control because I hate it. There is civillians in the council that do alot of that shit when required.
>>
>>39481129
Shitty advice. Aus army recruit centre's PT program is based around a bastardised Wendler/SS. They do weights 3 times a week
>>
>>39481335
are you guys getting these shitty new taser brand cameras?
I'm probably not going to turn mine on unless field interview or giving a Direction.
>>
I'm in the army and my bench went down after basic training (this was two years ago).

I can only speak about the army but infantry and basic training was all cardio, bodyweight exercises and ruck marches.

For lifting and I say this after ruck marches become easier is squats, deadlift, and Shrugs. Definitely do those. Maybe some bench I guess but more so bodyweight exercises.

Push ups, chin ups, pull ups, sit ups, leg raises, planks and alot of running.

My friend whose a cop said their training was similar exercise wise.

Hope this helps anon.

Can I flirt my way out of this one Mr officer? wink wink

Mmm

No, I don't have a valid ID! Here is my husband on the phone, he is an 8 star general. Why didn't you salute me?

found some crushed up long lasting opiates (supposed to be consume at the chemist) on a dude once with a family and a job. He had an opiates problem.
He said suggestively 'is there anything I can do to get out of this.. anything. I mean I'm willing to do whatever it takes".
.... opiates/meth make people disregard any dignity.
>>
>>39481702
That made me chuckle. I used to have a drug problem but it never got that bad. 3 years sober.
>>
I can't speak for police but I know I thing or two about military
Completely disregard all lifting
Weighted marches all day
Weighted runs all day
Practice dumb crossfit shit because trust me son, you'll be doing it
Daily anus stretching so when you get fucked it doesn't hurt so bad

>Australian Infantry, 3 years
>>
>>39481803
opiates arn't really a problem where I live. Ice/meth on the other hand makes people really volitile and unpredictable. We don't handcuff detained/arrested people as a matter of course here, you have to justify why they were handcuffed beyond the simple legisltive power. But almost anyone on ice needs to be restrained simply because their so unpredictable any potentially violent. Often with a real resilience to pain.

>>39481826
I used to have strange episodes of psychotic and paranoid rage on stimulants. After getting off them my mind wasn't even the same for a few months. Hoping to get back to university at some point. All started by smoking weed. I know it's not a gateway drug for everyone but it was for me and my cousin. Drugs should be illegal.
>>
>>39481861
>Drugs should be illegal.
well... it's funny you say that.
I've been assaulted a number of times, I've had guns pointed at me, bottles thrown at me, i've been spat at, threatened, stalked.
Most usually by people who are just drunk.
As a society we think alcohol is ok.
I'm not convinced cannabis causes society more harm than alcohol. We have socialised health care so I pay for other (poor people's) injuries. That's the justification for mandatory helmets and such.
If cannabis is too harmful surely alcohol is too harmfull. Conversely....
Mental health is a big thing that contributes to violence and cost to health care. it's clear cannabis sometimes causes mental health issues. But alcohol causes HUGE health issues, domestic violence, crashes and so on.
Fuck I don't really drink anymore.
>>
>>39481158
run, run, and run. but also ruck runs/hikes also. Mil mostly focuses on endurance over strength
