What's the point of really, really light fixed weights?

Do rehab with light weight.
Visited snap city? Use light weights.
Are you a woman? Use light weights.
Cant bench 2plate on first day? Use light weight.

I use the 3 lb. dumbbells all the time for curls and shoulder raises since my gym has dumbells in 5 lb. increments only. 35+3 = 38lbs, much better step up %-wise than 35 right to 40 for progressive overload.
