I'm new to lifting and was wondering if my routine is shit or not, I've been doing this routine every other day for the past week.

-5x5 deadlift
-3x5 bench
-5x5 bicep curls
-3 sets of 20 second chin-up hangs
-3 sets of tricep dips until I can't do anymore
-3x5 shoulder fly
-2 minute plank
>>
Can I expect to see immense muscular gains in the coming months with this routine /fit/, or do I have to amend it?
>>
You gotta give your body more time to recover. This is less of an issue since you're a beginner, but you want to split it up so you only do each body part max 2x a week, especially if you're not doing roids.

PPL is a popular program for this reason.
Push
Pull
Legs

So a 7 day week would look like this PPLPPLx where (x) is a rest day. This way you're hitting each body part twice a week and giving them adequate time to recover. Look up a PPL program IMO.

Alright thanks, I've looked up the program and it seems pretty doable and straight forward, how has it worked for you?

I'm almost at the two month mark of my program and I have seen (albeit noob) excellent gains all around in my progressive overload.
Monday (chest)
Flat BB Bench - 4x6
Incline DB Bench - 4x6
Flies - 3-4x8
Dips - 4 to failure (be kinda cautious about going to failure constantly, it's actually no bueno)
Tri Pull Downs V bar - 4x8-12
Tri Pull Downs Straight bar - 4x8-12

Tuesday (back)
Pull ups- 4x(whatever your limit is)
Didjeridoo's -4x5
Lat Pulldown - 4x6
Cable Row - 4x6
Chins - see pullups
DB Curls - 4x8-12
Hammer Curls - 3x8

Wednesday (shoulders)
OHP - 4x6
DB Press - 4x6
Lateral raises - 4x8
front raises - 4x8

Thursday (legs)
Skwats - 4x5
leg press - 4x8
fuckin pick pick your three fav accessories, your calves arent gonna improve more or less with anything

Nice routine, helps that you listed the actual names of the excercises cause I don't know what the fuck I'm doing in the gym.

Personally I stopped doing PPL because I'm more busy than I used to be or maybe just because I'm lazy, but it worked great when I did it.

Now I do this routine and it works really well for me. If you're at a gym, you can replace the resistance band exercises with a cable machine, but I'm #homegym. Copy-pasted so it might not format right

-------------------

I know it seems counter-intuitive, but getting long periods of rest is REALLY GOOD for muscle growth. One of the biggest problems with people today is over-training, They think that if they go hard in the gym every day, they'll get bigger faster. That's true, but only if you're on steroids. If you're natty, you have to give your body time to rebuild muscle or you'll just plateau really quickly. Lifting 3 days a week is more than enough for all but the most elite of bodybuilders as long as you have good form and focus on the muscle contraction.

Also another tip. Watch a TON of youtube videos. For each exercise in your routine, watch lots of different people doing them so you know that you're doing the exercise correctly.

Scott Herman, Elliot Hulse, Buff Dudes, etc. are all decent resources for learning proper technique.
