Is there any reason to do bodyweight squats for a lot of reps (say over 100) if I'm also doing a routine with weighted squats (SL5x5 in this case)? My goal is to get in shape for the military.

I mean a squat's a squat but why waste the time? Just get on with it and fuck the body weight squats.
I built my wheels on bw squats and lunges
I do not lift

High reps are good for blood vessel growth, this means it's quicker to get nutrients to the muscle and speeds up recovery.
Plus only a faggot doesn't train endurance as well as strength

My high school weight training coach made us do bodyweight squats and bench press with just the bar for high reps every Wednesday

Better start running everyday yo.
If you're doing SL, squats are the last thing you want to double up on.

If you're trying to get in shape for the military practice running, pushups, situps, and pullups. Mostly running though.

is it ok to add dips & chinups if you're only 1 month into SL?

Drop the 5x5 bullshit, you need endurance.
How about doing plyometrics? Can get a pretty sick pump and explosove strenght, could you get a muscular quads with just bodyweight or that isnt possible?

how many do you do?

I do body weight squats myself. I do them because I have a bad knee and back problems.
So far both have improved but the moment I tried to switch to weighted squats it got bad again.
In my case, I will stick with body weight squats.
