There are no requirements. It's a beginner program. Access to free weights is the only requirement. If you can't lift the bar, then you do a lighter dumbbell version for the first couple sessions.
The name of the program is literally "Starting Strength". There are no requirements, other than, I guess, at least being able to do all the exercises with an empty bar?

So why not
Build a more solid base?
>>39361796
The point of starting strength is to build a base from nothing and there's nothing else anyone needs to post in this shit thread
>>39361817
But Why would you put somone one on 3x5 strength work with no base?
>>39361871
because that is the base
most beginner programs geared towards powerlifting are a lot different than SS, but for general strength it works quite well and above all it's simple as fuck and easy to stick to
>>39361871
your base should be to learn the lfits and do them right
>>39361893
That's just asking for an injury
>>39363838
Yeah better to never try
>>39361893
Starting strength is 300+ pages how can you not figure out 5 lifts
>>39363838
unless you've just gone through chemo or some shit you won't snap yourself with a 20kg barbell
+ lighter barbells exist

Having a decent cardio health and being limber. You're gonna fuck yourself up if you walk into any weight training program without a body used to stretching itself out.
