Hey /fit/ this is fitness related so I probably won't get an answer but here it goes
Just started starting strength a little over a month ago and I was trying to mess around with symmetric strength to set some long term goals for myself but I realized my weight would probably be lower once I achieve those goals so I had to adjust accordingly. But when I started looking up what my maximum LBM is I noticed
1) There is a large discrepancy in the different models/equations. Which is the best in /fit/'s opinion?
2) I'm 210 lbs with 26% bf which puts me at about 155 lbs LBM. However, a lot of the models/equations I've seen for maximum LBM put me (5' 10" btw) at around 160 lbs. Are these equations way off? Am I calculating correctly?
Thank /fit/

OP that picture is comfy as fuck. chillin in your room while the rain pours down outside, such a gentle feeling. love the rain

In reality the only way to accurately measure this is a DXA scan, the 5lbs discrepancy with the online calculators is not something you should be worried about. The fact you're carrying 50lbs of fat on you at 5'10" is.
That picture is lit af

I know right? I actually just found this pic a day or so ago and put it as my desktop. I like to just stare at it and chill

Yeah I know I'm working on it. I'm eating at maintenance right now and my lifts have been progressing linearly so far but my weight hasn't really fluctuated and my clothes fit looser so I'm pretty sure I'm getting those noob gains I hear so much about while still losing some fat.

So setting long term goals is nice, but you should focus on short term goals often, and long term should always just be more (at least when starting)
Squatting 135 now? Aim for 185, then 225, then 255, etc.
Don't try to calculate a maximum limit for yourself. Just lift and try to get better and keep pushing it. By the time you can't get any better you'll be aged and matured from the effort and able to think of what to do next.

Yeah I have some short term goals in place. 185 squat right now and I want to be at 2pl8 by the month. Just stuff like that.
I guess the whole thing came up because I feel like if I make it to the 1000 lb club within the next 3 years I'll be happy. I just wanted to set a semi-reasonable long-term goal that I can constantly be pushing towards while still hitting my smaller ones (15% bf, 0.75xBW bench, etc.)
This eventually led to me trying to guess what my weight would be when I do finally hit the 1000 lb club (with I'm hoping 13-15% bf). So yeah, it was more just a curious question based off a far off goal.
