So I'm coming to terms with the fact that I have a bad back which makes heavy ass squats and deadlifts dangerous, what are good back friendly workouts I can do to build stronk legs?

Back extensions
Front squats
Leg machines (stay away from leg press!)
Stretch before and after every workout. Start light and when you have enough strength you can move on to light deadlift and back squats.
Bulging disc and slipped disc sufferer. I can deadlift 100kgs now, but before I couldn't tie my shoes.
I was once in your shoes... I took 5 months off. Then slowly built my confidence back up with a split. Eventually I got back into doing the big lifts... now I'm repping 1/2/3/4 without fear. Not as strong as I was pre injure, but way leaner, so I'll take it.
Listen to your body. Keep stress down. Give yourself time to heal... read Dr. Sarno.
Even Chris Duffin has multiple fucked up discs.. it's not the end of your lifting career necessarily.

Oh yeah... also focus on mobility. I'd bet your hamstrings, ankles, and hips all need work.

Stretch them, foam roll them, lying leg curl, and RDL them. I sat all day and that was a big part of what eventually brought me to getting injured. My hips and hammys were FUCKED but I was lifting so much I didn't care.
