You guys should rethink your approach - you must be doing something wrong. When I first tried my 1rm after about 2 or 3 lifting sessions I could easily do 2 plates once. Did some pyramid sets with 2 plates from there and was doing 220 3x8 after about a month of serious training. Though I only improved to about 300 in the next 4 months sinch I was focusing on improving other lifts mostly.
Also don't worry about those guys that can do 3 plates on their first try. It's pretty standard to pull that on the first few sessions for any man who did some pushup training or other sports before.
