You're both KIND of right and kind of wrong.

Yes, obviously, 2X calories one day and X calories the next is the same in terms of fat loss as 1.5x per day.

However, 1.5x is far better for your overall physique, as running an excessive calorie deficit can inhibit muscular development, so 2x + x is not recommended.

Much, much, better to remain slow and steady

Why bother with taking it off the next day? So long as you eat at a calorie deficit, with a proper diet, then you'll still lose weight. Eat it and enjoy it, then continue as per your program the next day.
