I suspect a huge imbalance between my internal and external rotation (external is way weaker). What are some good ways to train external rotation? I love pull ups if there's a variation that's better for external rotation.

facepulls, single arm facepulls, cable external rotations.

an exercise i like to do is to use a cable machine, and start like pic related (except hands in a neutral position), same stance as external rotation exercise, and to extend my arm to my sid, while keeping my wrist in-line or ahead of my elbow.

remember to keep the range of motion limited on any of these exercises.
almost all tutorials or images on you find on the web show people internally/externally rotating their shoulders way too far in the exercises.
the rotator cuff muscles are primarily stabilizers, so working them through a small range of motion isn't an issue at all.

even on facepulls, you shouldn't go all the way to the end, give your shoulders a little breathing room.
