If I'm hungry am I losing gains because my body is essentially eating itself?
I can't stop being hungry even though I'm eating around 2000 calories a day.

Not necessarily.
There's a difference between appetite and hunger

Thank god, thought you where retarded there for a moment, whats your height and mass?
If you recently decreased your caloric intake, sometimes it takes a few days for you to get used to it. It's happened to me before. Then I think that maybe my stomach shrinks, and I also get full faster.

Average daily intake for an adult man is 2000cals

If you're, like, 70 maybe.

you don't need 2000 calories, fattie. fix your diet (remove processed sugar, white bread, pasta, other excess refined carbs etc) and drink lots of water.

Naw man.

I struggled with eating under my calorie maintainence until I cut carbs out my diet and raised my protein intake. The only time I eat carbs are for my breakfast in which i eat a tin of beans and 3 eggs everyday

Eat more proteins and fibers. They're more filling. Try to stay clear of pure carb sources like pasta/white bread and get something with fiber like oats or beans instead.
