Is it okay to fast for an entire day if I'm trying to lose

Is it okay to fast for an entire day if I'm trying to lose fat? I've started cutting and going to the gym 2 months ago. I'm down a bit over 25 pounds, but I don't feel like I'm making much progress. Granted, I was over 270 at the start and now I'm around 250-249. The only thing I've noticed is that my waist line did get smaller and all my pants need a belt now.

I've started fasting on sundays taking only a multivitamin and drinking water.

What are the negative repercussions for doing this?

you didn't gain all of the weight overnight, and you wont lose it overnight either. it takes time to lose weight. look up the paper towel effect

There's no reason to do that. It won't make too much of a difference long term, so why cause yourself pain just to be tough?

Fasting is more of a fell good/willpower thing. It's not super effective at losing weight since it just makes you hungrier when you stop doing it. Go ahead if you want to, but I think it makes more sense just to do it to prove to yourself you can do it, or for spiritual reasons, not for practical purposes.

Because I'm still fucking fat. And fasting for a full day isn't even that bad, I just drink a lot of water and burping eases the hunger.

You should only lose weight in a way you can do sustainably. There's a reason why people "gain it back", because they never bother really learning and adopting a lifestyle where you can live comfortably without counting.
