if straps allow you to pull more weight then use straps. you're not deadlifting to train your fucking grip, you're deadlifting to pick up some heavy weight.

that's not a gym. i have a loophole at my "gym" that allows me to use liquid chalk. inquire about that.

chalk will help immensely. i would try that out before using straps.

i still live in my uni town and use pledge's cards to get in. alumni aren't allowed to use the gym its some BS. I usually work out at the hospital i work at.

I still bring a tiny bag of chalk and make sure to only apply it in my gym bag and wipe down the bar when i'm done. haven't gotten caught yet.

The golden rule is no belt or chalk until 4pl8 for 1 rep with perfect ROM.

If you can suffer without them until 4pl8, you can use them when you hit it to expedite gains. Don't use straps for anything less than 6pl8 or you're destined to be a bitch with no grip strength.

mixed grip is ok too i guess, but you need to switch how you hold the bar to deal with balance issues and it's easier to snap your biceps and get injured with mix

How do you know you can't use chalk? Use it until they tell you to stop unless there's literally a massive sign. Even if there is use liquid chalk and say you didn't know it counts.
My university gym doesn't allow chalk either. I keep it out of view and always clean up and nobody's ever said anything/
