So this dude said yesterday he only gets 60-100g of protons a day at 5'11 165lbs.

Some one tell me if this is true or possible.

Have protein intake been blown out of proporsion by the industry?

What is the truth?

Is a 100g enough for a 165lbs body lets say at 15% body fat?. Maybe you need more if you are an advanced lifter

I want to know if my focus should be more on getting healthy/real food and lifting instead of getting 140g of protons.
>>
I don't really understand how you can't even get 120-140 grams of proton eating normally
>>
>>38991081
>Not knowing that the typical normie diet is 80% carbs
Why do you think advertisers display shit on their packages like 8G OF PROTIEN CMON
Your average fuck isn't going to hit anywhere near 100g consistently desu senpai
>>
>>38991081
The problem is that my intake goes from 100 to 200 some days, I want to know if the days I get a 100 will kill my recovery o progress and if Im wasting money to get 140g
>>
>>38991103
but he says healthy/real food, so it should be really easy
>>
>>38991103
:( I do get a minimum of 100g you bad person you
>>
>>38991070
I think it is possible. If you are not a huge guy you don't need too much protein. 1,2-1,4 g /kg of bodyweight should be enough. If you eat much more your body will just use it as energy.
A lot of protein only helps you if you want to cut quickly and maintain muscle mass.
>>
You actually only need .6-.8 g/lb
>>
>>38991131
Thanks for the answer big guy, I will keep my intake from 100 to 140 but I will not cry when I don't get 140
>>
>>38991070
I'm 5ft11 and get about 150g of protein a day, i've had under and had around 100g where i was lifting literal baby weights, feeling weak as fuck, and was slithering away.

That moron is full of shit, and or squats as much as a 12 year old girl and over head pressed 25kg at best.
>>
>>38991147
That seems reasonable, thanks man
>>
>>38991103
YOu are wrong! The average person in the US has an daily protein intake of more than 110 g/day:
http://chartsbin.com/view/1155
If you are eating enough calories you are getting enough protein.
>>
>>38991165
Are you an advanced lifter? How much you weight?
I mean he is not a beast but he looks like he lifts
>>
As a student living in a shit country I struggle getting protein as well.

Greek yogurts are too expensive and the like. I cannot eat chicken breast everyday and tuna (mercury poisoning). Red meat is either expensive, or fried.

Sometimes I resort to protein powder but being a student, I find it sometimes too costly as well.

>>38991103
Unfortunately, this is true for me. Everywhere I go there are too much carbs, people don't give a shit much about protein here.

Nigger shut the fuck up, I'm 85kg at 5ft11 and feel like I'm slithering AWAY at 100g of protein a day as well as not recovering for shit. I'm not the biggest either, but i can lift heavy for me at least (140kg squat) and 170kg DL.

He is either lying out of his ass, cant lift heavy weights for shit, or is lying about his height.

I found 150g perfect for my height.

I suppose burgers have protein, it all adds up if you're having 12 per day.

Also i've been lifting for about 9 months, so i wouldn't say "advanced".
>>
>>38991212
Maybe try beans and lentils. They are a very cheap source of protein.
>>
>>38991218
You kinda proove my point, he is 72 kg and you are 86 consuming what he "should"

Thanks senpai
>>
>>38991226
It depends on your numbers not in the time lifting even if its relative
>>
>>38991125
:)
>>
>Have protein intake been blown out of proporsion by the industry?

Yes
>>
>>38991197
Actually it looks like he's a swimmer and probably does very minimal lifting.
>>
>>38991176
110g protein wit a total of 8k calories
>>
>>38991502
Average intake is 3700 Kcal.
> Quite a lot considering that average requirements are around 2000 for female and 2500 for male.
>Are there a lot of fat people in the US?
>>
>>38991231
Thanks dude. Isn't there something against them being a plant protein and all?
>>
>>38991992
The palnt protein is incomplete shit is just a meme. They have all essential amino acids.

High protein is a meme, there has never been a study that shows a benefit of going over .7 grams per pound and that was for professional athletes. As abnormal lifter if you get over 100 grams you won't notice ill effects.

The 1 gram per pound was made up by supplement companies to sell whey.

Pic related is me and I only get around 100 grams a day.
>>
>>38992388
A normal* not abnormal
>>
>>38992388
holy fuck i wanna be lean like that, do you do any cardio?
>>
100g is more than enough.

I built 35lbs over the course of 3 years of lifting and I never took additional protein to my every day meals. I DID eat a ton of food, but I never felt I had to supplement to hit some magic number.

There is a great article recently published about how your body will use the amount of protein it's used to getting to build the necessary muscle. Adding a ton extra doesn't necessarily help.
>>
>He said it so he's probably not lying
>>
>>38991081
Yeah I struggle to get 120ish, really need the whey to make it.
>>
>>38992388
High protein is the BIGGEST meme. I'm cutting and eating like 0.7g/lb and it still feels like a lot. Performance is in line with every other cut I've done (usually very high protein diet) except I'm able to actually enjoy food.
>>
>>38992388
Thanks for the info man you look great!, training and overlall nutrition seems to be more important

You guys on here need to understanr that not everything is a fucking dichotomy.

Yes, we have some evidence that says that for the average healthy dude 1g/lb of bodyweight is optimal for muscle builsing.
That doesnt FUCKING mean that .8 or even less will give you nogains.
A huge part of the equation is genetics and your own work ethic.
A guy eating 100g protein but that doesnt skip a workout in 3 years will have better results than soemone with the perfect diet skipping workouts.
It's all about marginal increases for fuck sake.
Like the retards shouting at each other on which novice routine is the best....just pick a program and stick with it for a year or so, results will come regardless, maybe not the ABSOLUTE 100% BEST results you could have had, but in life perfection is unattainable, let go of the OCD
>>
>>38992467
Thanks, Searching in google I found a lot of people saying this.
>>
>all these anecdotes
>not a single source

Boy, I'm sure going to trust a bunch of posters on an Ottoman Buttsex forum.
>>
>>38992462
For health reasons, diet is far more important while cutting.
>>
>>38992532
You are right, my problem was the ridicolous amount of protein that some people( some being paid to say) say you NEED to eat, even the sticky sets that amount.

People should tell begginers to stick to a novice program and aim for 100g of protein, the fact that you should worry every day about eating x amount of protein seems very unnatural that said a 100g is almost effortless
>>
>>38991165
could have been the extra calories my main man
>>
Nutrition guidelines are just that, guidelines. It will be different for everyone. They're usually inflated a bit when it comes to shit like protein and supplements not just to take your $$$ but also as a catch-all to cover those individuals who need a little more than average.
>>
>>38992581
Remember how the dietary recomended sugar intake is modyfied, how that dude that tells you sugar in liquid form is okay works for cocacola?.

Why would that happen with protein RIGHT?
>>
How many protons do I need at 6'1 165 lbs?

I feel like 100g is already a shitload,
>>
>>38991260
Literally says in SS you're lifting to get stronger not to get big numbers. Keep on with your partial squats Mr advanced
>>
>>38992684
at 165lbs 100g is enough for now
>>
>>38992851
Of course form is important, but if you squat 140lbs for 3 years you are still a novice
>>
>>38991081
I usually get 70g protein a day on 1460 kcal, just eating normally and being conscious of my macros
>>
>>38992603
Yeah, as long as your diet is relatively healthy you're good, even .5g/lbs of bw is ok.
Especially for beginners, unless they fu k up royally they will grow regardless.
This whole problem is due to most of /fit/ being adhd nerds who are always afraid of not taking the 100% best course of action, like in everything
>>
Eat about 80-100g protons a day.
Left out all protein powder for 2 month now yada yada and actually still making gains.. pic related

fwiw i dont eat that much protons either...

half a dozen eggs, tuna and some kind of meat. I've been tapering off the whey lately

>pic related
>>
>>38994482
And roids
>>
>>38991153
you could argue that even 100g is overkill for a beginner/lightweight, just focus mainly on your training and calories as opposed to macros, just make sure you're getting good food in, but there's literally no need to obsess over macros.
>>
>>38991070
0.7g per lbs is all you need, rest is expensive piss

>>38991081
I hit 120g easily(sometimes more in accidente)

quark, chicken, all variety of fish, beef(250g of lean beef is almost 100g), milk and theres other shit but those are the top of my head that carry a lot of protons

I do this for my 2k kcals cut and still get to fit chocolate and whatever I please in there
>>
>>38991070
It's enough on a bulk.
>>
dude did steroids, and they helped his protons, hope this helps

PS all pro sport and crossfit and olympics are on gallons of steroids since 14 year old, you can never come close to steroids powered muscles and blacks n italians n all strippers are on them and lipo, there is no black athlete its a myth and jordan given all 6 by refs
>>
