Is there any scientific proof that abs are made in the kitchen more than in the gym ? A study ?
Or that everybody has abs (I mean more developed in the beginning, than, per example, pecs) ?
>>
>>38965839

It means you lose fat by monitoring food intake. Not by working out.
>>
>>38965851
I'm looking for a study, do you have one?
>>
>>38965839
Basically, if you do composite exercises in the gym that hit your abdominals, you don't need to worry about isolating them. Also the sentiment behind is that no matter how much you do sit ups or crunches or whatever, you will never have visible abs if you don't also lower your body fat %
>>
>>38965839
scientific probably not.
but it's a common experience of gym goers that once you lower bodyfat your abs will come out. and lowering bodyfat is mainly about diet.
>>
>>38965880
Which is done by eating less than you burn.
>>
>>38965894
Yeah I know that but I need to make a point to someone and I cannot just say "I know it from my personal experience. That's all."

Hmmm.. I like to do crunches and other ab calisthenics. I can't do a proper push up if you held a gun to my head. Luckiy, the other day, some very nice gentleman gave me a totally unused Weider situp bench. Good stuff , can flex em good, ribs are sore as fuck, cause ive cracked the ligaments so many times from stupid accidents, BUT YEYYYYYEEEEE FUCKKKK YEAHHH
>>
You can make your abs bigger by doing isolations and stuff, weighted isolations. But you won't reap the benefit if you have a high bf%

the best thing you can hope for is that the top 4 pop out at a higher BF%
>>
>>38965839
"Abs are made in the kitchen" is a retarded meme saying with a grain of truth. Basically, you have abdominal muscles. If not, you wouldn't be able to stand. If there is fat covering them, then you can't see 'em. That's really basic logic. Now, how do we remove fat? By eating less. Hence the "hurr durr abs are made in the kitchen" shit that normies love to parrot.

Now in reality, you can and should be training abs. A better saying would be "abs are made in the gym, but revealed in the kitchen".

As for studies done, not on this specifically. Calories are a thing. Losing weight and gaining muscle are also both well understood. You can find studies, but it" s like finding studies that say water is wet. So very basic nobody really feels the need to run tests.
>>
>>38965867

>you lose fat by monitoring food ie eating less.
>study proving thermodynamics pls.

Someone mind explaining metabolism and food and calories?
>>
>>38965839

this is basic math/science and you don't need to cite a study

energy stored = energy consumed - energy spent

of course genetics and whatnot will determine your body's biochemistry but generally speaking if you eat at a surplus you will gain fat (ideally you are bulking and thus gaining good muscle too) and if you eat at a deficit you will lose fat (unfortunately you will lose muscle too, but you can fight against this by continuing your training and emphasizing protein in your diet )

the thing is if you just lose a bunch weight you're going to lose some muscle too... if you don't even have any muscle to begin with you're even worse off bc you're shedding off that fat to reveal a shitty physique

if you decide to bulk, however, you'll get muscles but you'll also get some fat and you might get too much fat on you and look shitty anyway

this is exactly why people advocate cutting/bulking at a very gradual pace so you're not dieting all over the place and zigzagging your way from point A to point B

anyway if you could post some more pics of that girl I'd be v grateful, thx
>>
>>38966013

Actually, muscle is destroyed at the gym and made outside the gym.

So, all muscle is made in the kitchen. :^)
>>
>>38966013
>>38966017

Thank you guys
>>
>>38966013
But you can find studies on the percentage of bodyfat that you need to have.
>>
>>38966013
>abs are made in the gym, but revealed in the kitchen

This nigga got it.
>>
>>38966080

No, not really. I can't think of studies done on "the average bodyfat where men/women gain abs".

It's pretty much a given theyll be visible at 7-8%. And gone by 20. But those with no core will barely have visible abs at 8% and strong powerlifters/strongmen might have abs at 25% or more.
>>
>>38965839
It means diet is much more important than excercise. YOu can have abs and maybe only work out twice a week. You just have to have a low bf %
>It should be
>Abs are made in the gym but revealed in the kitchen
>>
>>38965839
I think I'm just lucky. Did abs hard for like six months, had a mean core. Stopped. Its been a little over a year and the abdominal muscles never really went, still have visible abs. Definitely not as good looking but they're there. Oh, and my obliques completely wasted away.
>>
>>38966360
Me too
>>
>>38965867
You're retarded. It's common sense: you eat less than your body burns so you lose fat. You can't see muscle definition if there's a layer of fat over it.
>>
>>38965919
Get him to find people with <10% bf who doesn't have any abs.

Get him to find people with >20% who have defined abs.

Then ask him how you reduce bf%
>>
>>38965867
>hey, guise, are you sure that Sun is rising in the morning? I'm looking for a study.
Everyone has abs, you would fall down if you didn't have them, as there would be nothing to stabilize your core. But you gotta be lean to see them, that's pretty obvious.
>>
>>38965867
you're not likely to find one, because there's no firm scientific metric for measuring abs; there is no such thing as a digital abs-ometer that gives you a rating between "tub of lard" and "wicked sick brah"

i think this is a bait post, though, so congrats on your (you)
>>
>>38966389
A fair amount of people have decent ab definition over 20%
>>
>>38965839
ABS ARE MADE IN THE WOMB FAGGOTS YOU'RE ALL WRONG
IF ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN HOW THE FUCK DO YOU GET INTO THE KITCHEN TO MAKE THEM WITHOUT ABS

CHECKMATE FUCKERS
>>
>>38966421
This

FUCK /FIT/

FUCKING RETARD AUTISTS

KILL YOURSELVES
>>
>>38966864
I think this every time I come here, and yet here I still am.
>>
>>38965967
>But you won't reap the benefit if you have a high bf%
Sure you will, makes your abdominals denser, improves posture, improves all lifts, prevents injury etc. etc.

Just lol at trying to powerlift or weightlift without doing abs every session, just lol
>>
>>38965839

>cares about visible abs meme

Shut the fuck up and lift heavy. Stop being a bitchboy caring about muh visible abs.
>>
>>38966985
that wasn't part of the topic I was answering though I argee complete in any case
>>
>>38965839
literally just touch your own stomach. you can feel the abs under the fat. do you need an article to tell you that you just need to lose weight?

>>38966360
that just means you didn't get fat. all you did when you got "abs gainz" was lose weight.
>>
>>38966953
this
>why
>>
>>38968472
Bullshit. It's possible to have small abs and to grow them. To end up with your perspective one would have to either start out with big abs or never find a method to train them properly.
>>
Off topic but related to fat storage.

I never believed in the its your genetics meme until this girl at work literally wore the tightest goddamn spandex pants yesterday and her hip/ass fat storage is pornstar tier, she hardly works out either.

So yes abs are made in the kitchen.
>>
>>38968525
sure, it's possible, i've seen it once, on someone who had undiagnosed diabetes and was essentially on ketosis for a couple of months.
what's funny is that most of the guys "training abs" are doing sets of 50+ situps, that do nothing for size gains.

you're not completely wrong though. I had visible abs from 14 to 23 or something. I think they actually did grow out when i practiced gymnastics - those explosive movements must have triggered something. before that I was just skinny with abs.
>>
>>38965839

Abs are visible when there isn't a layer of fat blocking them. How strong they are doesn't really matter.

Really this is true for ANY muscle (and this is why powerlifters always look fat.). It's just most obvious for abs.
>>
So what's the best way to train abs for real guys?

People have always say that "you always have abs, you just can't see them" line, but a few years before I lifted I lost a shit ton of weight for medical reasons, and there was still no sign of abs. People (even ITT) love to say "lol if u didn't have abs u couldn't stand", but I saw my stomach and there was nothing there.

I'm 5'10, and there's no way I'll ever reach 137 (my lowest point during that episode) lbs via healthy means, so it looks like I need to train abs, right? Am I some kind of fucking special case?
>>
>>38969023
>I lost a shit ton of weight for medical reasons

you probably lost a large amount of weight in a short amount of time which means your body cut off both your muscle and fat

this is why people cut on a 300 calorie deficit to prevent muscle loss but only enough to loss fat
>>
>>38965839
I don't have any studies because studies are idiotic. There are far too many variables for you to glean any kind of relevant information.

What I do have is anecdotal evidence. Abs HAVE NEVER been made in the kitchen, in my case. I eat relatively unhealthily, however I don't eat much processed foods other than fast food and pizza 2-3 times a week. In a typical week I'll eat about 2-3 pounds of medium ground beef, 6-10 chicken breasts or about double that in thighs, 2 cans of tuna, some kind of fish, preferably salmon, about a dozen samosas, 60 eggs, 2-3 cups of white rice, 10-15 potatoes, 10-12 apples, a myriad of vegetables... Contrary to the /fit/ meme, I eat bread, white wonderbread shit when I make PB&J or lunch meat sandwiches.... Subway, McDonalds, Random pizza joints, BK, restaurants, you name it. My real weakness is chocolate and sweets. Oreos, brownies, cake, ice cream, etc... fuckin LOVE that shit with 3.5% milk

Like I said, I don't watch what I eat that much. Things that I do avoid - Soda, juice, prepared meals like tv dinners or michelinas, and I TRY not to overdo the sugar when I get insane cravings for sweets, but I fail

TL;DR: I do not train my abs at all, I eat what I want and I have an 8 pack

>>
>>38966389
This. Abs won't show above a certain BF and your belly is one of the first places to store fat and one of the last places to lose it.
>>
>>38965919
>"I know it from my personal experience. That's all."
ofc you can

tell him "this is how you do it and if you dont want to believe me or you don't want to do it you can fuck right off back to plebbit. Your studies are waiting there."
>>
>>38965867
>hey guise, they say the earth is spherical and not flat. Is there a study for this?
>>
It's half true. Yes you won't see abs unless you lose fat. But if someone who never works out their abs and someone who does work out their abs both go on the same diet, guess which one will see abs first? Bigger abs = BF% at which abs start to become visible is higher.
>>
>>38965839
>>38965839

Cut your caloric intake and see you mong.
>>
>>38969367
>abs are made in the kitchen
doesnt mean you need to eat healthy food to get abs, it means that you gotta have your caloric intake in check and a decent bf%
How anyone would not get this astounds me

Guys I've been lifting for 7 months now, still novice imo.
I do compounds and some additional work to help the pushing and pulling
Are daily 3xF Planks enough to build abs that would look defined once I will cut or do I need to do some more "strength"/dynamic exercises?
Like idk, weighted crunches, butterflies, ab wheel, hanging leg raises, russian twists etc. etc.
>>
>>38965839
Its absolute horse shit made up by fatties as an excuse for their beerbelly.
>>38966421
Keyword:DEVELOPED
Everyone has abs like they have any other muscle. That doesnt mean you will magically look like a fitness model without working out.
>>38969023
Exactly what im talking about. If everyone had abs then skellies and DYELS would have them.
>>
>>38969194
>this is why people cut on a 300 calorie deficit to prevent muscle loss

three hundred isn't much of a cut is it? I was under the impression you could go much lower than that without muscle loss
>>
is ab wheel best ab exercise?
>>
>>38966456
You're delusional.
