First day, benched 2PL for 1 at around 6 months, reps at 9ish. Im very upper body dominant.

I had his same problem, but I was stuck around 155lb bench for what felt like eternity.

For me at least, bench form needs to be perfect. Same with OHP because there is less potential strength output for these, making consistent progress harder than a squat or deadlift.

Also, doing dumbbell bench press 4x8 on OHP days really helped me out big time as well.

Even if thats true its deosnt matter in terms of adding weight to BP. If yuo are about to say you need to hit your chest in other ways, "Flies", to make progress you are dead wrong.

Man i was the exact opposite. My bench and OHP are way further along than my other lifts. I can currently OHp 160 for 5 and Bench 270 for 5 but i can only squat 310 for 5, thats keeping my depth and form in check of course. I think its because i still dont use a belt so if i start my squat will probably jump up a bit.

it does because if you have overdeveloped triceps relative to your chest like I did, your chest won't catch up.

Oh i see what youre saying, thats pretty rare though how the hell did that happen? Were you only doing skull crushers for years or something? I know the only tricep movement i do is dips and luckily they hit the chest slightly as well so ive never had that problem.

Honestly I don't know. I think I just got good at ohp before bench and it overdeveloped different muscles.

I was working in with a guy at the gym and he stated how even though he benched 2 plate that I had about the same size arm he did even though I was doing like 160-165lbs at that time

Even now my chest is kind of lacking but it's catching up and I hit 195lbs 3x5 with a lot of ease on Monday

I think Rippetoe even said the bench press is kind of a meme when it comes to training chest, but you have to do it anyway.
