Right. I just don't see the point of spreading your skills over the two. Would make more sense to just pick one or the other. I'm not well versed in crossfit but what it looks like to me is technique heavy lifts performed stupidly in a circuit fashion along with some bodyweight exercised that are progressed in what looks to be very awkward ways. I could be wrong though.

Try crossfit football, it follows basic linear progression and keeps strength gains without all the kipping and such. Lots of heavy dumbbell work and weighted pullups. Designed to get you strong as fuck and sprint thru walls

They can be almost (or in some cases literally) a celebrity to a subculture (crossfit) or just be another very, very good weightlifter trying to win championships.

That's what it's designed for. If he wants to try crossfit, that's the best option with a strength focus. It's created and run by a 10 year NFL veteran

I do crossfit since it allows me to complete a relatively intense workout in 20-30 minutes, so I won't be away from work for too long.
But that also means I'm getting pretty much nowhere in terms of gains, although I've noticed an improvement in my cardiovascular fitness.
I could probably get similar results from aerobics, but crossfit is more "fun" for me.

If you want to get buff, stick to a proper strength training regime and have some low/medium-intensity cardio on your off days.
