What sports does /fit/ engage in? Uni is starting next week, and I was thinking of joining a sports club, but can't decide on which one. I've narrowed my choices down to muay thai, wrestling, or rugby, but not sure which one I should go for. Any advice?
>>
>>38794595
not really a sport, but I do martial arts tricking. It's basically a mix between tumbling and martial arts.
>>
>>38794595
Wrestled in highschool and rugby in college. Wrestling was definitely harder and if you have no background you'll likely get your ass kicked.
>>
>>38794595
Wrestling will get you in better shape than almost anything else. The skills you learn in wrestling translate well to bjj, mma, and most other martial arts.

Is there a bigger >no homo sport than oil wrestling?

>if you have no background you'll likely get your ass kicked
I can live with that, gotta learn somehow. So, would you recommend wrestling?

>>38794699
Strong rec for wrestling, eh?

>>38794706
If I do wrestling, I'll start an oil wrestling club next year at uni, no homo.
>>
>>38794595
Sign up for all of them and then stick with the one you like
>>
>>38794595
Rugby will have by far the best social side
>>
>>38794815
My uni's rugby team have organised an even called "Tackling Lad Culture". Not too sure about the presence of your usual rugby socialising.
>>
>>38794815
Can confirm
>>
>>38794595
Team sports are always better. Have a set of friends to stick with throughout uni

Play rugby
>>

Not him, but I wrestled for 8 years and would recommend it to anyone.

There are few things in this world that rival the feeling of dominance you get after you physically humiliate the guy across the matt from you. I wish I was still a wrestler, but there is no places for me to do it anymore.
>>
>>38794595
def do wrestling, think of all the hot guys you'll be able to man handle and dominate
>>
>>38794815
Absolutely true. All about the drink ups.
>>
rock climbing if your uni has the facilities.
>>
Say you are a homo. Would the other wrestlets be ok with me?
That dominating thing sounds great i would love to make someone my bitch, in fact everything sounds good, even the getting my ass beat if its from a muscle alpha.
>>

I think BJJ would be more your thing

>>
>>38794595

Maybe try quidditch or some bullshit thing like that, and go back to /mlp/ you sick fuck.stop trying to manhandle dudes. It's just wrong.
>>
>>38796005
I quit wrestling party due to getting erections caused by pubertal hormonos going hay-wire.

No homo it just happened but it got too embarassing for me.

I do club VBall but that's only because my suitemates are the co presidents and convinced me to. Also all the parties at my college are closed unless you're in an organization. Other then that I'm more into lifting.
>>
I started kickboxing.

I always wanted to learn a martial art and I am sore after classes but my lifts aren't as good anymore

granted I do usually try to lift after classes but still

I'd love to try out wrestling because it sounds fun, I could really use the "I can kick this guy's ass in a fight" confidence boost and apparently it compliments lifting very well.
The one thing keeping me from giving it a try is I'm afraid I'd have constant raging boners from it and I don't live in a country where that sort of shit would fly.
>>
>>38794595
>i narrowed my choices down to punching sweaty men, grappling sweary man or tackling sweaty men

I see the pattern...
>>
I was thinking about doing fencing and maybe archery too

Maybe I'll join the equestrian club and go for the full knight trio
>>
> muay thai, wrestling, or rugby

>Rugby
Rugby lads are the worst people, they are just awful, would avoid.

>Wrestling
Too touchy feely with other men

>muay thai
Sounds fun, martial arts people are good people, less touchy feeling, less lad culture. Winner by a mile in my books
>>
>>38794815
Yeah the rugby team is the closest thing to a good fraternity, socially. You'll always have mates to chill with
>>
>Wrestling
Pretty cool, you'll become a beast, tough and high test (expect bigger jaw, fucked up knees and ears)

>Rugby
Wins the social side, I've heard rugby parties are awesome. Full of /fit/ bros to hang out with

>Muay Thai
Fun, but more of a weaboo sport. Also brutal to your shins, knees and hands.

My recs

>BJJ
Awesome and deep MA, you will need 10 years of constant practice to master it. Better social environment than wrestling imo, attracts a more diverse range of people (nerds, chill dudes/surfers, athletes and some girls). Way less hard on the body.

>Boxing
Based sport, learn to hit and get hit. More of a loner thing.

>Rock Climbing
Top qts and bros.

>Surf
>Judo
>Tennis

>>
I went through this exact thing going to school. You gotta show up and try it out a few times. I joined Rugby, but it ended up being a joke. Looked around at other options, but they were all also a joke. Finally tried Judo because my friend recommended it. Everyone was super legit, the conditioning was no fucking joke, met a bunch of dope foreign exchange students and learned to shreck anyone wearing an abnormally heavy weight fabric coat.
>>
>>38794595
Played rugby first two years of college. Definitely recommend, helped me get out of skelly mode plus huge social gains as well.
>>
>>38799763
Kickboxing is mostly cardio, unless you eat a fuckload you will get pretty cut and skinny. Unfortunately lifting and kickboxing don't go very well together, which is a a shame because those are my two favorite hobbies
>>
>>38800060
Do HEMA instead of fencing, sport fencing is not as useful for combat (though it's still fun).
>>
I play d3 college soccer in the us.

Just joined rugby and the social gains as well as the improvement in my stamina has already made it worth it. Rugby bros are the best bros.

Starting wrestling in uni. Not gonna make it. Most of those guys are fucking monsters

yes I am gay too and would like to wrestle, same question
>>
This may sound weird to western people but oil wrestling is no homo at all
What makes it homo is the mindset you have
You have become so scared to look gay to other people that you cant even touch someone of the same gender without getting a panic attack

Its just different mindsets and upbringing but i know its very difficult to understand if you have never been exposed to other cultures

We can go to thr bathhouse, massage each others backs and then go home to out girlfriends without anybody ever thinking about something homosexual because the people are not so insecure.
Back in the day nobody was afraid to havr body contact with their friends
Western people are the first to be so insecure about their sexuality
