If you somehow have been breathing like a god and have correct oral posture while still eating like a god then the last thing to look at would be your genetics. However, a lot of people have no idea (judging by the amount of weak chins/jaws ive seen) how much of an important role breathing and proper oral posture has on your body/development and it very well may have been your reason. If youve been slouching your ass off or have had forward head posture your entire life then that may also may have influenced it.

I used to be self conscious as fuck. Like to a crippling extent that I wouldn't even go outside. After the surgery, everyone told me that they never noticed anything, and that it was all in my head. But regardless, my confidence went way the fuck up.

The first month, you're gonna look unrecognizable. My cheeks were swollen as fuck and I lost all feeling in the lower half of my face (still don't have it except in my lower lip). After a few months, you'll start to look more normal. Looking at pictures and comparing the before and after, it made me look at least 2/10 better. It was honestly unbearable for a little bit after the surgery. But I have never been happier, and am so fucking glad I did it.

You will start off with protein shakes and yogurt, etc. (This is assuming your procedure goes like mine, and your jaws get wired shut). You'll get tired of it real quick though, and by the 2nd or 3rd month I was blending up just about everything you can imagine, and drinking it. It really isn't as bad as you think. my laugh is creepy, so is my face shape and I avoid all kinds of camera. I also have asymmetry as the surgeon told me, right side of my face(jaw) is a bit longer grown than left side, and it really is, it can easily be seen when photographed. he will fix that too.

he told me about losing the feeling also. but i would be glad if I regained my lower lip just like you because I would have to clean my chin every time I eat something.

He said I just need 20 days of medical report for work and he will be completely done with me 2 months after surgery. he doesn't want me to chew anything until 2 months are past.

I'm strangely not scared, quite the contrary I just want to have it as soon as possible because I'm really tired of my looks. I'm sure it will be a confidence boost, especially after losing lots of weight after the surgery. I wanted to melt my fat belly before doing sports, so it will be a win for me.

I was the same way anon. I grew up depressed and the only thing that kept me from killing myself was the thought that things would be better after I got my jaw fixed. I promise it will make you a new man.

In terms of losing weight, I went from 160 to 135 during the whole process. I got into fitness shortly after, and am currently 6'1" @ 175. One downside to the recovery is you will be unable to participate in physical activity for (i believe it was) 6 months after your initial procedure.

In terms of the lack of feeling in your face, I don't even notice it anymore unless someone brings it up, or I get kissed on the upper lip. I was told that most of the feeling should come back, but that doesn't seem to be the case for me.

I would sacrifice the feeling of the top half of my body for what the surgery did for me, anon. Like it's hard to emphasize how significantly this surgery singlehandedly changed my life.

One last thing I'd like to mention, is it fixed not only my bite, but also my ability to breathe through my nose properly. Not to mention the drastic change in appearance.

OH FUCK. I almost forgot about this. I had a lisp when saying certain words, others seemed unaffected. I don't have that problem anymore, but I did also go to speech therapy after my jaws were unwired so I'm not sure which to give credit to.

Also people say that I talk differently now, almost like I have an accent. Again, I credit this to speech therapy, but it could just be that the new jaw and positioning of everything took some getting used to.

I'm not a surgeon but I'll answer this to the best of my ability. When I was sat down initially with the surgeon, he gave me several options as to how to go about the surgery.

> Option A:
He makes a cut from ear to ear going over the top of my head, peels down my face and works from there.

This one scared the shit out of me. But apparently it's a relatively popular approach. He told me that there could be potential scarring that would prevent hair from growing there, which I wasn't down for. Other than that, he said it should be relatively risk free.

> Option B (The one I went with):
The cuts are made behind your lips on your gums, and they take out your jaws and adjust them accordingly. The risks with this is that there could be nerve damage (which I suffer from). The perks of this however, are that there is virtually no visible scarring.

Regardless of the option you choose however, if your surgery is like mine, they're going to break one jaw and push another one forward. (Or just do one or the other, again it varies from person to person).

My upper jaw was brought forward, and my lower jaw was broken and brought together with plates and screws. This essentially made my lower jaw weaker, but I haven't had any problems with that. The only thing I've really noticed other than the lack of feeling in part of my face is that I occasionally get hypersensitivity in my lower left molar. I've seen countless surgeons and dentists regarding the problem, but no one can seem to find out what's wrong. My surgeon told me "it's probably just a side effect of the nerve damage, it should go away in a year or two". Still waiting for that day.

How late after? I'd guess that for the first month or so after my jaws became unwired the hardest thing I would eat was oatmeal or ramen. It was gradual before I was able to eat solid foods again, but after probably 2 months (5 months after the initial operation), I was back to eating whatever I wanted.
