Is there an advantage to lifting bare foot? Obviously in a home gym..... not a public gym.
Not so much that as that there are no particular advantages to lifting with shoes on, except for weightlifting shoes for the appropriate exercises.

There's a great segment where he goes into a pretty in-depth analysis of why barefoot is the way to go. Especially from a sports or martial arts/yoga way, or dance or whatever it happens to be...your foot strength and every aspect of it is super important. I have no idea where in that video it is so sorry bud, if you're into it check it out, but it's compelling stuff. I don't like lifting in shoes, be it overhead press or deadlifts

Thanks. Interesting and informative

It has less range of movement.

I don't think there are any benefits aside from very slightly reduced range of motion on deadlifts (almost not noticeable) and stability compared to squishy shoes (easily solved with wl shoes), but I do it all the time out of convenience.

I do this but had no idea there might be an advantage to it. I just dont wear shoes in the house

at my gym when it's time for squats or DLs i take my shoes off and just lift in socks
nobody cares, plenty of other people do it
Quick way to pretend you play sports by getting athletes foot
I squat barefoot/with socks so I don't fuck up the soles of my shoes.

I currently lift in socks only, because my sneakers fell apart and I can't be assed to search for shoes that fit.
If anybody asks me about why I bench in flip flops I point to the shiny letters that say 'sport' - that makes them sport shoes.
