Cliche, but read the book on how to make friends. Listen to podcasts. Literally just say hi to everyone that even looks in your direction. When you walk into a cafe, say hi to the cashier, not timidly, and just ask how their day is.

A lot of what you're going through is because you're too focused inwardly and not outwardly. I know its easier said than done, but you really have to learn how to open up and just make simple small talk with strangers. Maybe you'll have something in common, maybe not. But at least you're trying.

Once you're comfortable, try going to things that you're interested in and meeting people. Anime conventions if you're a weeb. Sports bars of your favorite teams if not. Local gym.

Once you're in the habit of making simple conversations you can start delving deeper into socializing. Just take it easy and slowly, you'll figure it out. You have decades of unlearning to do, it wont happen overnight.
