same thing happened to me. foam rolling and stretching helped a ton, squatting and deadlifting more and fixing my form actually made them feel better

the last time I felt the imbalance was when I was doing a quad stretch and I felt something like a muscle 'slip' around my knee area.. the discomfort went away immediately and I never had it again after that.
