Non-/fit/ here. My right knee has something wrong with it. For a few weeks, after sitting for some time (at the computer, at the piano, with the cello, anywhere) it would start feeling just slightly sore. Icing it seemed to worsen it, while light walking and standing in general would help. It would become noticeably redder while this happened.
This morning I awoke to a cramp in my right calf muscles. After writhing for a while I got up and needed to lean on things for support. The pain faded over the course of an hour. After this the soreness described above became slightly more frequent but otherwise things were fine.
Now it's night, and my knee is sore again because of too much sitting, but it's not going away. My right leg below the knee feels almost like it's fallen half-asleep, I had it hang off the side of the bed and it seemed to help blood flow back. I felt the part of my legs on the opposite side from the kneecap (whatever that's called), and on my right leg it's definitely swollen. The front may be swollen as well but I'm less sure about that. Anyways, I've been standing for a while and it feels like it might finally be getting back to normal, but I wouldn't be surprised to wake up to a cramp tomorrow as well, if I can even fall asleep before my leg does again.
I think this could be due to my freakish legs. I'm not /fit/ but I'm certainly more /fit/ than I was as a child. My leg fat has stubbornly remained the same, though.

How much water are you drinking each day? If you're sitting down a lot I could imagine you're not really worried about drinking much, so that could explain the cramp.

Calf cramps are a thing. Eat a banana every day or every other day. Potassium deficiency is what causes it.
Try changing how you sit. If you sit with locked knees propped against something, try leaving them on the floor so they're bent. Locking or straightening your knees while sitting is bad juju nigga.
