I am afflicted with terrible awful depression and fighting off suicide. Things just got a lot harder in life as I have now been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and have been told that I need new medications that cost hundreds of dollars a month. I have no insurance etc

The only thing left for me is to try to go to the gym for 2-3 hours a day every morning to eat up time and try to reverse my mindset. Does anyone have experience with planning workouts of this sort? I figure I will go and do both cardio and pretty much every muscle group, every day. Obviously not super high impact stuff, but just trying to eat up time.

Any suggestions on how to eat up a lot of time in the gym? Thanks.

There are new medications that are very effective but I can't afford them. RA is causing me to lose strength in my thumb, middle finger, and index finger. It will affect lifting before very long if I can't get treatment. I am already having trouble with things as basic as opening jars or drinks. I'm 34 years old.

It's terrifying. They tell you that you're not supposed to have problems with your hands until you're 60+ as a man, generally. I also broke almost every bone in my right hand, several of them more than once, so I have a weak hand to begin with.

Read the sticky. I'm sorry to read all that, anon, but you can still be happy. I'm glad you turned to exercise, it's much better than what many people try.

Cardio is great for depression. If possible, I'd recommend swimming, cycling or some other low-impact activity so you don't bang on your joints. The important thing is to set some goals and work towards them.
>>
Sorry man. But you can't go balls to the wall everyday for hours on end unless you're on serious gear.

You have to find a workout pattern that allows you to workout for long periods or do something physically strenuous that can help you focus away from your pain and even help your arthritis pain.

I suggest training for and participating in some kind of sport or activity that doesn't need much in the way of grip strength.
Like soccer, swimming or a martial art that doesn't center around or involve too many holds or throws.

I have read the sticky, I could write the sticky, I have an exercise science degree. I'm asking specifically about long-ass workouts which have special considerations in order to avoid burning muscle. Thanks though.

>>38531252
I said obviously not high impact -_- I just need to spend time.

Ever watch the movie taxi driver? Where he says he just wants to work long hours, and it's because he wants to be doing something so he's not killing himself at that time?

It's pretty serious Anon, it's a degenerative disorder.
He will eventually begin to lose the ability to use the afflicted body part.
Even with treatment it's postponing it for a few more years.
>>
>>38531267
soccer and swiming and something like tai chi aren't high impact and if you rest eat well and are aware of your own body you can do them all day everyday without much in the way of pain.
>>
>>38531277
Things are getting a lot better. Stuff like this is incredibly huge for people who suffer from any degenerative disease:

There is a new class of drugs that will stop it, and eventually I can be retrovirus engineered to fix my DNA to make it go away. That's if i'm rich and in 20 years, though

Thanks, swimming is probably the best idea, I'm about to go to my apartment complex pool actually. There's the whole zen factor of being in the water that really helps to make you feel better and fight depression.
>>
I try to workout and be as healthy as I can to stop hating my life. It doesn't work for me but I know it helps other people, so hopefully it works for you.

also if your depression were prior to the illness, psychology affects many things. maybe look for spiritual reasons of illnesses?

Just fuck off you fucking idiot.

'Spiritual reasons of illness'

Fucking lol.

Tip to OP:
- move out of US
- get insurance and healthcare
- live happily ever after

My mother has rheumatoid arthritis. Diet can help, but I would do what you can to get those medications. Untreated RA is awful shit. Though the treatments have plenty of downsides too. What do they want to prescribe you?
>>
