Is there an alternative to pull-ups? or at least a work out to get me adjusted to doing them? im really bad at them but they are beneficial so i want to be able to do them without feeling like im struggling all the time

And just to add something for the sake of adding something. Rows use a lot of the same muscles as pullups, so getting better at those will make you better at pullups

Disregard all advice concerning lat pulldown machines and all that shit OP.

Jump pullups are the answer. Jump up to the bar, grab and pull and use that little bit of momentum the jump gives you to get up to the position. Then lower yourself slowly downwards (negatives in other words)

Set yourself 50 to do, do as many strict as you can then use jump pullups for the rest. I went from being able to do 2 strict in a set to doing 8 in about 3 weeks, and i keep getting better.

This is true. Just do lat pulldowns, its fucking simple, and after awhile you'll be able to do pullups like its nothing.
Same goes for pushups. Doing 20-25 pushups used to be hard, now after benching with 60-70 lb dumbbells I can just crank pushups out with ease

I feel like lat pulldowns and assisted pullups don't transfer well to regular pullups, but maybe they work for you (they didn't work for me).

Try elastic bands. As close as it can get to doing an actual pullup and helps you get used to the movement. Start with higher resistance bands and work your way up to normal pullups.

The exercise is too isolated to be of much use. Doing negatives/jumps are much better.
