actually have kids learn proper nutrition in school instead of just:

forcing kids to to sports at school with keep them fit until they leave school

so they go on their childhood and teenage years eating white bread with cheese and butter for breakfast, drinking soda 2-3 times a day, and eating McDonalds on the weekends, not that it matters to them because their metabolism and activity offsets those calories and they don't get fat

later on college they begin drinking, but then again offset by the 30 minutes of crossfit the do 3 times a week

then after their 25 years, when their metabolism slows for a bit, they have to work and have less time to exercise, suddenly they gain weight with their same diet they've had their whole life, eventually reaching a point they just give up instead of fixing the problem

and fixing the problem is just as simple as not drinking soda, changing white bread for whole wheat, eat desserts that have considerably less sugar than others that are mainly sugar, don't drink a day's worth of calories in one night


However teaching people how to eat properly is bad news for:
-fast food joints (people eating healthier)
-food producers (people eating less food)
-nutrition specialists (people knowing what to eat)
-personal trainers (people that are fat trying to get unfat)
-doctors, hospitals and clinics (profit from obesity problems)
-insurance (increase premiums due to obesity problems)

and even healthy food producers (which usually sell overpriced novelty healthy food at insane prices to unhealthy fatasses that think it's miracle food and that healthy food does not come cheap even though it's cheaper to eat healthier if you know what you eat)

Also, popular junk food is always high in fat; see burgers, fries, cake, even fucking starbucks coffee packed full of cream and milk and shit.

There is a correlation between obesity and fat but the only reason it exists is due to the correlation between fat consumption and the actual cause which is quantity of calories consumed. As more fat is consumed, more calories are consumed.

Italian culture is like that. It's the big family-style dinners where the mother/grandmother cooks and everyone sits down together and eats. This is nice, but the thing is that it's insulting to the cook (your mom/grandmother) to not eat a lot. Which means it's not really your gf's fault, and if you just teach her to cook healthy then you should be fine.

I used to be 250 pounds 5'7 at 16. I was on my way of becoming an usual health at every size liberal but along the way I found pol and realized I am a piece of shit untermensch.

Now at 18 I am 160 pounds and lift 6 days a week while all the people who used to make fun of me became fat and disgusting through a lifestyle of degenerate drinking and eating.

Doctors and hospitals hate fat people, fampai. Obese are one of the most rage-inducing patients, and every procedure that would be trivial in any normal-weight person can be life threatening to obese people and it requires especialized (expensive) equipment. So many doctors and hospitals are afraid of doing much with obese because they can easily die and then they might be sued.
That said, I can assure you that most doctors indeed know shit about how to lose weight. My mother is a cardiologist and she's spent her entire life believing in fad diets, and only know is she losing weight because I taught her about calories in/out and downloaded MFP for her.
