>TFW lower back always stiff/sore
>TFW even kind of hurts when doing cardio
>Deadlift form isn't even bad

Is it just weak or stiff from something else? Should I stop deadlifting?
>>
the lower back recovers very slowly from training. if you squat (low bar especially) and deadlift often then it's not surprising if it feels a little sore/stiff.
>>
>>38155640
how long have you been lifting? my back was constantly sore the first few months, but now ive been going for about a year and a half and havent had issues with it for a long time
>>
>>38155640
maybe it's from your job or the way you sit down.
>>
>>38155669
I highbar squat

>>38155675
A couple months, is it just being weak?

My back doesn't normally hurt but if I bend forward or hyperextend it then it feels kinda sore
>>
>>38155694
id like to say its just general soreness, but you shouldnt take advice regarding your back from some anon on a tibetan waifu sharing forum. thats the sort of injury thatll be with you for life.
>>
>>38155702
Well I mean it kinda hurts but I don't have atrociously bad form on any lifts...

My spine is neutral on squats, deads etc. Only having trouble with arch on bench press
>>
Stretch your legs and back. If you've never done it, you're just feeling all the years of shitty existance balled up into a small section of tense muscles.
>>
>>38155694
High bar always hurt my back more than low.

Best explanation I can think of for why that might be is the compressive force of the bar is applied more or less directly to the length of the spine rather than 'through' the shoulders and chest as in low bar. Moreover, high bar forces your spinal erectors to work isometrically to hold your back upright and cuts your hamstrings out of the movement, meaning they absorb more of the load less productively.

Switch to lowbar with some good old hip drahve for a few weeks and the muscles will get stronger and the stiffness will go.
>>
>>38155751
I hip drahve as much as possible on highbar too though, if that makes sense

Is tjat what's causing my problem? I might switch over later, ive never really felt good plwcement of the bar for lowbar
>>
>>38155770
Actually that's probably it - without your hamstrings in play to get the stretch reflex bringing in the hips too much will fuck you up in the long run because you'll never be able to keep your back neutral as the weights go up.

YouTube search starting strength squat bar placement. There's a sweet spot to hit for bar placement just below the spines of the scapulae/in between your medial and rear delts that creates a nice shelf that some lifting God must have designed with squats in mind. Once you've felt it for the first time, you'll wonder why you ever tried to put the bar anywhere else.
>>
>>38155640
Try Sumo DL. Seriously. Did it today, won't go back.
>>
>>38155828
But I'm so used to highbar now...
>>
>>38155898
while I prefer low bar, I see no reason to switch over such a silly reason. high bar should not hurt your back. you don't even know if it's the squat that hurts your back. plus you don't even know if you're actually hurt and not just sore. on the internet there's always someone willing to make up an explanation for everything, but usually it's 100% wrong. you're the only one who can diagnose this.
>>
>>38155640
>Deadlift form isn't even bad
cool post video, I'll be the judge of that. Also post video of your squats
>>
>>38155640

Don't try to self diagnose OP, go to a physio or a specialist. I spent months getting a sore back from deadlifts so I went to a physio to loosen my back up. Turns out the problem was in my hamstrings of all things, which was causing a knock on effect to my back. As soon as I started stretching and working the hammies the back problem went away. I'm not saying that's what's going on with you, just that back problems are fucking weird and caused by all sorts of varied shit so see a specialist to pinpoint what's going on
>>
>>38155640
You probably have anterior pelvic tilt and you're doing all your exercises with it. I imagine you run with your abs and glutes completely turned off as well, which puts stress on the lower back.
>>
>>38155978
How do I find a physio that knows anything about lifting?

They seem to not know shit mostly, kinda skeptical of them
>>
>>38156041

If they are a properly accredited sports physio they'll know their shit - not necessarily about lifting exclusively but about the way your muscles and body work together and what's jacking up yours. Im not sure about your specific circumstances but good physios usually have good word of mouth so ask around your friends/local gym to see if anyone can recommend you one
