Why the fuck is oats recommended for cutting and lifting in general ? Look at those shit macros for 100g ( from my Quaker oats box ):
Protein: 11
Fat: 8
Carbs: 60
also it's 375 calories for every 100g
they're recommended for bulking, not cutting. oats are cheap and a decent amount of fiber and lots of complex carbs. you can eat them on a cut too, but you're right that they're not ideal for that.

I know, I eat those for lunch, but I was thinking about breakfast, perhaps it's time to get some protein shakes.

lean meats and vegetables are always good if you want to keep calorie intake low. as long as you stay away from sugary stuff, soda, sweets etc. and stick to healthy food it shouldn't be too hard to create a deficit.

Oats are good for cutting because of their GI, If you have 400 calories worth of oats you are going to feel satiated for hours.

This. Oats keep you full and bloated, which while uncomfortable, reduces appetite. 1/2 a cup of oats with water is 150 calories, and at least for me, can keep me full for a few hours. Mix I'm a scoop of powder and you're set until lunch at under 400 calories.
