I make my oats with an oat-derived milk substitute. Lactose free milk works too, but I prefer oat milk because it doesn't burn as easily.

I also hate oats with water, and i choose not to drink milk, give oat-drinks a try. I ususally mix 3dl oats, 1 sliced banana and i fill the bowl up with oat-drink, it's tasty as fuck.
