multivitamins are shit. you'll be pissing away most of it, and in some cases getting too much of a vitamin can be a bad thing

multis are not a meme, but they're not conclusively proven to be beneficial. however, it's ridiculously hard to (dis)prove any benefits of multis so that's to be expected. it's not something you can just measure in a lab.
