I've had a gun put up to my temple before, while I was drunk and high af - and the only reason I couldn't react is exactly because I was Drunk and high.

Awareness is key - don't let them get the drop on you; guns are extremely linear weapons, the slightest trajectory change will result in a miss.

This can't be trained in the gym; however the rest comes from working out:

Speed/Coordination - the knowledge of the space around you and how to move your body in it, will allow you to evade the bullet trajectory and close in on your opponent

Strength - this will allow you to wrestle/direct the gun away from yourself using minimal grip, all while pounding the everliving shit out of the cocksucker's adams apple

Stamina - this will not only allow you to continually be in motion, and to escape the situation, but will also increase your chances of being able to handle the backup mugger waiting on his boy. Also, a slower/stationary target is easier to hit obv.

Really it just comes down to physics, and being alert.

I was at a friend's party once, this was a year or two after high school. Some of the people there were friends of ours who were still in high school as well. At first it was about 20 people total who were all friends or at least friends of friends, including the core 5 or 6 of us who were close with the homeowner. Eventually a large congress of hood rats rolled up into the party and the homeowner friend decided that he wanted to cut it short since he didn't know over half the people at the party. He asked us all to help dissipate the party and get everyone out. I started telling this group of hood rats that the party was over and everyone had to leave. This particular group was like 6 to 8 dudes who walked in carrying a single six pack...

As I asked them to leave they started walking towards the kitchen which and I put my hand on one's shoulder as he reached for the fridge door. Looking back they were probably trying to get that singular untouched six pack they had walked in with but in my drunk ass state I assumed they were going to grab more of the house beer after being told to leave. As I reach to grab this dude's shoulder his buddy sucker punches me causing me me to whip my head to the side and then just like swing back to look at the guy. I remember being fucking furious.

I then proceed to cock back and hit the dude as hard as I fucking could. He gets knocked out and half his body sprawls out on the counter he was in front of. I then just start swinging on this dude not letting him up and it was pretty much a brawl of two of us fighting and a third friend just separating people versus like 5 of them in a small ass enclosed kitchen. The fight travels out of the kitchen to the adjacent living room.

As I'm driving away a group of cop cars speed past me on the opposite side of the street and I have two of them immediately u-turn and pull me over. I get pulled over and try to deny a search only to have him flash his light inside and see beer cans which must have been left by some careless ass when we had been in my car earlier listening to music while parked on the lawn of the house. Cop proceed to say "I don't need a warrant now, jackass" and searches my car to find a bowl dab rig and more beer cans. After a long time of me trying to stall him I finally comply to a breathalyzer and get a hair below intoxicated while driving. Being 20 years old at the time however it meant I wasn't supposed to be inebriated at all he has me call someone to pick me up and drive the car home.

Cop turns out to be a bro even though I gave him a very hard time about searching the car and doesn't charge me with anything. Just made me pour out the remaining beers and got sent home. Apparently my friend who had left right before me got pulled over too

You can do krav maga and really perfect it and take your chances trying to disarm and incapacitate the guy, but there's still at minimum a 1% you get shot cause the guys got meth reaction time.

Actually the strategy that I have in such a scenario is to try and get as close as possible while relinquishing my possessions one by one. I'll get down to my phone or wallet where I yell "CATCH" throw my wallet in the air towards him and as they're distracted, take a flash step forward and and crack his skull open with my fist. If he has a knife same strat, but if he goes for a stab I'll let the knife enter my shoulder or other non vital area, grab his arm to keeo the knife lodged into me, then go in to break his neck.
