I'm one of those guys who thinks there's rarely any reason any should get a tattoo. As people have said in this thread, there used to be practical reasons, skin looks better without them, who knows if you'll give a shit about whatever it is a year from now, etc...

Then I picked up this novel that I really enjoyed. By the second book in the series I think it's hands down my favorite series, and one of the main characters has a tattoo that I am considering getting.

Then I came to this thread and I feel embarrassed for even considering it.

I read Cats Cradle by Vonnegut while I was in juvie. It was the first book I read outside of school shit that affected me and made me want to be less of a fuckup and take prepping for uni seriously. I now teach children with autism.

Point is everything is suggestive. If something means something to you and you want to commemorate it, don't let people just discourage you without looking at it from all angles.

Better advice: keep whatever you're thinking about getting as your phone wallpaper for at least half a year. If you're still into it after that stretch of time, odds are you probably won't regret it later.
