Squat and Deadlift
Do those two things with proper form
Don't use roids
Get proper rest from training
Don't do stupid stuff in training and don't overdo non-stupid stuff
Stretch and do mobility work often if not every day
If you spend too much time sitting on a desk or car, take breaks so you can move your joints around and stretch a bit
Have adequate micronutrients intake, specially calcium and vitamin D
Drink water
Don't have unlucky genetics
Don't become overweight
Definitely do not become obese
If running barefeet learn to strike with the balls of the feet
If running with heel striking use good shoes
Prefer low impact sports, like swimming or strength training
Don't get into accidents
If skating and stuff use protection
Eat fish (or just take fishoil capsules)

Use a hammer to hit your knees as hard as you can every two days, eventually they will repair themselves and get stronger everytime

I've finally left the squat, deadlifts and bench powerlifting routine and started adding serious single leg type exercises. I feel like it's been helping my running as well.
