If you're 5'9" or shorter they probably wouldn't look too out of place but wearing a watch bigger than a 40mm would be a no go.

Oly lifts for grip strength would probably help, and any form of deadlifts or finger hangs can't hurt.

I can't hold too much weight with a wrist roller because my shoulders give in before my forearms

with the barbell you support the weight with your lower back so you can hold it much more time.

The friction of the plates is what generates the work as if you were doing wrist rollers

I lift a shitload, do a shitload of weighted pullups and heavy deadlifts and my forearms are still laughably skinny. You have to do some extra isolation work if you're not genetically gifted. Same with ab muscles, don't fall for this fucking "squats and deadlifts will give you a sixpack" meme.

Fuck that, train your calves brah. Mine aren't much wider since I've been training them, but they are ripped as fuck. at lest no one will be able to accuse you of neglecting legs since they will be visibly develped.

I'm doing 3x12 calf raises. Do them slowely, and hold the weight at the maximum top for about 2-3 sec at every rep. Calves can grow, but it can take years. Since training them isn't really taxing at all, I'm doing them every time I hit the gym. I can wait.

One great exercise I heard of that is really well is to tie a string on a 5lb weight or whatever, maybe 10lbs if you've been training for a while and then tie the other end of the strong to a PVC pipe or any round tube. Hold the tube in front of you horizontally, and then roll the tube to roll the string and lift up the weight.

It sounds easy, but it gets you tired really fast.

this is basically the idea of a wrist roller, but a neat trick I found on youtube is standing on a chair and keeping your arms bent at 90, like if you are doing a wrist curl. This way the shoulder doesn't fail that soon and you can work the forearms longer.
