I have several raised scars from self-harm from two years ago.

Here's what it looks like now. You can't really see it in the first pic but it really protruded around 1,5mm before I took the skin off. The white stuff is zinc ointment.

This is generally a bad idea, you should go to an actual dermatologist. Especially since it's over a large area, you'll want the end result to look consistent. Otherwise it may end up looking like you got into an industrial accident with a belt sander.

The zinc is fine, but you likely want to use a disinfectant before and after (eg alcohol or an iodine solution).

If you don't mind, could you explain the method behind the self-harm? ie how did you make the decision where to cut?

Medfag here, I'm afraid I don't have the best news.
After about 2 year, the healing process in scars is usually finished/mostly done and it's the best you're going to get. The type of scars you have right now are white, pitted scars which is usually a sign that the healing process is finished.
Furthermore, the surgery that you're talking about is usually performed under anaesthetic (local) and for your skin would need to go quite deep. Recovery is a long process and it will be sore. Furthermore, the results are variable and tend to come back over time. What you're doing is not good for your skin, all you're going to go is damage the skin that's still healthy.
I recommend seeking help from a trained dermatologist or plastic surgeon. There are a couple of other treatments for the scars you have, but may be quite costly.

Im not sure I should even tell you to do this because youre definitely too retarded to do this yourself but I think using a TCA chemical peel on your arm might help and then using vit E during recovery. Not going to research this for you but this is what I would do if I had this shit on my arm.

There's some good tattoo artist out there with experience dealing with specifically this. Covering scars is a pretty common reason for people to get inked. It won't be super cheap though.

OP here, I was gone for the past couple hours. Thanks for all the legit advice, especially medfag and the other guy. That Hyperion story cracked me up.
I can't afford any professional treatment, I already looked into it. The scars don't bother me too muchmuch, thanks for trying to get me to a therapist though. I'm honestly pretty stable right now. Have been for the past year.

use a derma roller
it does exactly what you are thinking of,
it makes little pricks into the skin, not enough to cause scabbing or anything like that, but enough to get the ol' collagen a-flowing.
try that for a few months, then try sandpapering again if nothing helps.

.5 to 1mm for face and neck
up to 2mm for body.
