Greetings /fit/

I've recently started kickboxing after a break from martial arts.
Befote that I did SL 5x5.

My question is, how should I schedule my week? And can I do kickboxing which is very cardio heavy and pretty tough for my shoulders a day after training or do I need rest?

>TL:DR
Overtraining

How many times a week do you wanna train in kickboxing and how many times do you wanna lift?
>>
>>36801838
not OP but considering doing the same, what's the upper limit? Say I'd prefer to train every day, either lifting or kickboxing, or both if possible. As a relatively athletic 20 year old btw

I can kickbox every day from monday to thursday.
I'm not sure yet how many times I want to go, but it's definitely 2 maybe even 3 if I can manage it.

So I was thinking of maybe doing full body workouts thursdays and saturdays? Train kickboxing monday and wednesday maybe?
>>
I lift the day after MA. Monday Thursday is MA, Tuesday Friday lifting, full body routine.

Isn't it too exhausting?

Also, should I switch to greyskull program instead of SL? I heard it's better plus it doesn't take as long.

I train muay thai two times a week and lift two times a week

Lifting: Monday, Saturday
Muay Thai: Wednesday, Thursday

For me it's the perfect amount of training. Had to find that out first through trying out. I find it possible to train strength on one day and then muay thai the next day or the other way round but have a hard time training three days in a row, because like anon said, my shoulders can't really handle it. So i'd recommend a rest day every other day.

You can also throw in some bodyweight training after kickboxing if you have the time, or if your gym has equipment even some strength training.

Do you do a full body workout 2 times a week then?

i'm currently doing martial arts MxWxFxS, lifting saturdays. It works very nicely for me. I'd lift more but uni takes a lot of time.

You could lift as frequently as your ability to recover allows. If you for example begin failing reps on your working weight while lifting very often, you should decrease the frequency.

It is hard at first but your body will get used to it. I started on SS then moved on to Madcow. The ramping sets rather than flat sets in Madcow really help on not getting burned out.
>>

So something like greyskull with the Last set consisting of as many reps as possible is good?
>>
>>36802210
I wouldn't AMRAP on your sets if you are doing a lot of other physical work, would be very easy to knacker yourself out. I would recommend just doing a linear 5rm routine. Do bear in mind I'm an oldfag though and need to be mindful of my recovery.

Pro fighters do martial arts 3x per week and power training 1x or 2x per week.

Since you don't have roids, perfect diet and a daily routine that is geared towards fighting, you should do power training maybe once a week.

OP here, thanks for input!

I just fpund out that there is beginner level ju jutsi classes which begin right after kickboxing. Think it's sound to do 1 hour of kickboxing followed by an hour of ju jutsu?

My schedule could be:
>monday : kickboxing then jujutsu
>tuesday : lifting
>wednesday : kickboxing then ju jutsu
>thursday rest
>friday : lifting
>weekend: rest?

Is this overkill or you think I can do it?

Only? Most of them say they do martial arts almost every day and then lift later in the evening. If you go read the UFC fighters profiles on ufc.com they all talk about training a lot

A pro fighter in my gym trains 2hours a day five days a week. he stays in thailand every three months or so for three months wher he trains 6hours a day (three in the morning, three in the evening) 6times a week
