Why would you not eat after a muscle building exercise? Why would you not eat after any exercise unless you were sick?

If you eat a heavy meal after doing abs the muscle stretches outwards. You risk getting a pouchy gut look like you see on 'fit' vegans who gorge on insane amounts of veggies and stuff after workouts.
