I'd like to compete, but I'm always afraid I'll be much weaker than everyone and end up just wasting everyone's time.

I'm 6'4", so to even look like I lift, I have to weigh at least 225 (current weight is ~232).

Current lifts are
Squat 300x5
Bench 220x5
Deadlift 335x5

I'm thinking of competing when I can 1RM 3/4/5 plate so I at least don't embarrass myself.

Any advice? What were your stats when you first competed?

Just go when you feel ready senpai. I just started lifting seriously this year and am trying to hit 3/2/4 for reps by the end of July/August and then taper off into a PL program and compete by the end of the year. Still deciding if I should do 83kg or 93kg since I'm a 5'9 tall as fuck lanklet.

Even if I do not hit my goals I'm still going to compete for the experience, who cares about what others think of you. If anything, forcing yourself to go and see all the others lifting heavy ass shit would do nothing but inspire me to push even harder come the next meet.

It is highly ineffective to do romanian sumo deadlifts or stiff legged sumo deadlifts, so those should be done conventional. Block/rack pulls should be done with your main stance, same thing with deficits, paused deadlifts, etc.

The point of assistance exercises it to strengthen your muscles. So it doesn't matter much, really.

Some people like doing RDLs with sumo stance, though. I know sheiko recommends something similar to that.

Well, I've only been browsing /plg/ since last september or so, so I don't know if it was "better" or "different" in the past, but I think the complaints about the attitude and atmosphere here are pretty exaggerated. I think most people here are fairly positive, fairly helpful and that most everyone wants both to get better and everyone else to get better too. Even without asking too many questions I've learned so much browsing here, reading discussions about lifting, getting exposed to new sources of knowledge, lifters to follow and read about and study, so many different training methodologies and all that. There is shitposting and there are threads where only stupid or pointless subjects are talked about, there is certainly some negativity, but I'm not bothered by it and tend to just ignore it. If a thread is shit and it bothers you, you could always just turn your pc or phone off and go do something else like read a book or collect rocks.

Competing did make me want to find a powerlifting friendly gym or preferably a powerlifting club though, like really REALLY badly. I might have to move to do so though.

I'm a weakfag 5'11" 190lbs, 405 squat, 250 bench, 445 deadlift... been doing candytoe 6wk for a while now; on my 4th cycle currently. Been adding 10-15lbs to squat, 5lbs to bench, and 15-20lb to deadlift, every cycle. Day 1 is hard, but week 2's squat workouts destroy me every time. Still, it's fun overall.

Bench isn't progressing as fast as I want (I added extra accessories and volume this cycle, so we'll see), but I feel like I'm still getting stronger overall, so I'm afraid to switch programs...

Suffered. Ignored it and tried to work through it. Had a back spasm. Couldn't walk properly for three days. Gave up deadlifts for an entire month, and then switched to sumo.
