At one point in my life I thought body dysmorphic disorder was a joke and fucking crazy. Now I feel it's real, I constantly see so many flaws in my weight, muscle groups and shit. But when I'm training I constantly get admiration of physique and genes. Unfortunately, when I look at myself I see nothing of what they see?

Does anon ever feel that way? I'm constantly always just noticing things and I'm always thinking about the gym. I don't feel I'm obsessed but I feel like it's a lot to take on mentally sometimes.

Yes i feel the same.

Its weird, i know that i have huge arms. I know i look big and i know i got the shredz.

I get constantly mired in the gym. Everyone tells me i look amazing.

But when i look in the mirror, all i can see is too much fat and small arms.

It sucks anon. The mires i get are the only reason i dont lose my mind.

Y'all fucking suck. You feel you're not big enough, then get big. Your problems are fixable, maybe not easily, but still fixable.

Meanwhile people like me have terribly asymmetrical abs and bad insertions, which can't even be fixed with surgery.

Get bent ungrateful fucks.

shut up moron

The thing is i am/we are already big and yet we feel small.

Also, the only thing where muscle insertions matter is the chest.

No one gives a fuck about asymmetrical abs or biceps or whatever.

Often the harder you work, the more you expect out of it. I understand the sentiment, I've been going to the gym now for over a year and a half, and have put on roughly 27lb of muscle and maybe 6-9 of fat, so still a rookie. When I look in the mirror often all I see is the things that aren't good enough, but then I think back to how vastly different I was.I think people often trick their minds into producing a response to seeing yourself that makes you feel as though you want more, and the more you let yourself think that way, the stronger those mental patterns become. It's really nice sometimes to just focus on how good you look as well, you know, and how much you've improved. It's a physical manifestation of all the long hours you've put in. BD is a mental illness like any other, and I think often the treatments can be as simple as changing the way you think about the things causing you issue (obviously easier said than done haha).
Anyway, if you came here for advice here's mine: next time you look at yourself, shift your thinking 180 degrees to think about how fucking good you look, and how hard you worked, smile at yourself and (even though it can be really hard) try to believe that you've succeeded in some of your goals, try to feel at least partially satisfied. I think you might find that it's a nice, quite unfamiliar feeling. Fake it til you make it, you know? If you tell yourself to believe something for long enough, that thing becomes easier to believe. You look good, dude, just let yourself feel accomplished about that.

I swear to God that people who write these essay replies are the biggest autists and the ones that have nothing going on with their life.
