Why do other nerds never take my advice to do twenty push-ups when they're feeling down? The reason the people I give the advice to are sad is literally that they spend too much time playing video games and they don't have anything to look forward. Something as simple as getting their heart beating and having a rush of endorphins would completely change their outlook on life, but they would rather wallow in self-pity.

They probably can't do even one. I was like this myself, but then I started to lift.

I've gotten the line 'I can barely do one' as a response twice so far. When I say 'then do one push-up', they refuse as well. I mean, I know I should expect this, but holy shit.

Sometimes when I'm sad I try doing lightweight squats with a non-oly barbell I have lying around. It never helps.

As it turns out the "average" people you meet are often physically a fucking joke.
My opinion: any otherwise healthy human who can't do a single pullup is in an awful state of fitness.

So many people these days shun and shy from physical activity, it's sad.

I did the Tough Ruck last year, 26.2 miles, and people would ask why. When I said the part about being a challenge, they didn't get it, but when I said it was to honor fallen military they kinda understood but not really. Some people ask why you'd walk 2 blocks for milk when you have a car.
