sticky recommends doing about 2 weeks of maintenance after finishing a long cut. you guys haven any empirical or anecdotal evidence that this is beneficial, or is it just a theory?

if you dont do this you will die.
As you lose weight, the body up regulates cortisol and leptin goes down. The 2 week maintenance is kind of just a way to get hormonal homeostasis back. It's not the time frame, but diet breaks before putting on weight helps.

As in, not only based in evidence, but also has all the inner workings.
So yes, maintenance after a cut is theory.
It's also good practice.
Your body is going from a -500 to a +500, with a difference of 1000.
Your body will gain weight really quickly as it is used to receiving your food at a deficit, your insulin sensitivity will go up, and rate of absorbtion will too, and then you slap it on an excess.....
While I say not to do it, after you lift for a while, it doesnt matter, because the worst thing that will happen is a lb or two of fat.
